Term 2 Week 10 Monday 1st July 2024
Principal's Message
Tēnā koutou Kokopu whanau
What a fantastic term 2 we have had. The many events and learning opportunities have made this an exciting term for our students. Last Thursday we had a great time during our Matariki planting day. Students worked with their tuakana teina buddies showing the school value of Respecting our Environment. I was particularly impressed with the leadership and care by our older students.
One of the benefits of a full primary school like ours, that goes from years 1-8, is that our senior students get lots of opportunities to develop their leadership skills. I have been reflecting on our current Year 7-8 students and I must commend them for the way they look after younger students, making them feel cared for, safe, and important. This year's seniors reflect our school motto of “To Learn and Serve”. They show their leadership through service whether that be tuakana teina, monitors jobs, peer mediators, helping out around the school or just being great role models. Keep up the great work!!
As part of our strategic goal, we are going to be creating some visual features around the school over the next two terms. These might include murals and sculptures. The purpose of these is for them to reflect who we are. If you are interested in helping out, please have a chat to your classroom teacher.
I also just want to thank everyone for their support after the power outage two weeks ago. You may have noticed on Thursday that we used new sign-out sheets in each classroom. This will be our Standard Operating System when we have an incident at school that requires students to go home early. This system helps us make sure we know where everyone ends up especially when parents are taking other students home.
Teachers are in the process of completing their assessments and writing mid-year reports.
Reports go home the second Monday (29th July) followed by Teacher parent interviews on Wednesday 31st July. Bookings will be open during the first week back.
