Welcome To Week #22
Dear Brahma Family,
On Tuesday, our Peer Counselors and Wellness Center will be hosting TEDx Talks in the Theatre all day. Students whose teachers signed up will hear three talks per period spotlighting wellness themes. It’s impressive to see the students who prepare and deliver their talks to a packed theatre of 400 or so of their peers and teachers. Thank you to Mrs. Mesdjian, our Wellness Center Coordinator and Peer Counseling Teacher, for organizing this moving and inspiring day.
The Lunar New Year is this Wednesday, January 29. Happy New Year to all members of our Brahma family who celebrate the Lunar New Year.
Sincerely,
David Hong
Principal

Seniors, FAFSA is open!
SENIORS, go online as soon as possible to fill out your Free Application forFederal Student Aid at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa. Don’t wait until your parents’ tax return is ready – you’ll use the information from their 2022 tax return. Again, it’s best to get your FAFSA filled out as early as possible, and the F in FAFSA stands for free so if you’re ever on a website that asks for you to pay them money, you’re in the wrong place.
REMINDER: THE FAFSA IS NOT OPTIONAL! California Assembly Bill 132 was
signed into law last year and requires school districts to confirm SENIORS have completed the FAFSA or California Dream Act application (https://dream.csac.ca.gov/landing) before graduating. There is a way to opt-out of completing the FAFSA, and if that’s what you and your parents want to do, you’ll have to pick up that opt-out form from your GLC and return it in order to qualify for graduation. “Hey, man, why aren’t you going to graduation practice?” “Oh, I never filled out the FAFSA or the opt-out form. You can’t tell me what to do!” “Oh… um, good one. You’re really showing…someone… something.”
