CCS Update 4.3.25

Welcome Spring! πΈπ
Ah, Spring! The nights are cool, and the days are warm. Trees and flowers are budding, the air smells fresh, and everyone wants to be outside! With the start of the 4th quarter and with less than 45 days of school left, encourage your student to:
- wear a sweater or jacket for the fluctuating temperatures
- apply sunscreen and take seasonal allergy meds (at home), as needed
- attend school daily
- review behavioral expectations
- work hard on assignments and goals to finish the school year!
PBIS March Event
Spring was the theme!
March 28th, we held a PBIS (Positive Behavioral Intervention Supports) Spring Event at CCS. Students from Northern High Student Government Association (SGA) participated in the planned activities. Students made balloon animals, decorated terra cotta pots, did tissue paper flower art, played "Minute to Win it" games, played Spring Bingo, and made a dirt-cup snack to eat. What a fun day!

National School Librarian Day
Friday, April 4th is a day to recognize and celebrate all that school librarians do. From helping kids fall in love with reading, to choosing the perfect book for a reluctant reader, to organizing the media center and making sure it's stocked with great choices for our students, this is the chance to make librarians feel special. We are so fortunate to have Mrs. Halstead as our Media Center Specialist and Ms. Grenier, our Library and Technology Integration Specialist, on our CCS team!
Transition Expo for Secondary Students
Meet with agency representatives on Thursday, 4/9!
This is an exciting opportunity to meet with multiple agencies to explore options for your student after CCPS. If you have questions, please contact Mr. Keesee, Secondary Transition Specialist at this link: keeseea@calvertnet.k12.md.us
Inclusive Track & Field Event
Come cheer for the students!
The event will be held at Calvert High on Wed, April 9th (Elementary) and Thurs, April 10th (Secondary). A rain date is scheduled for April 11th for the secondary athletes, if needed. You are invited to attend to support the athletes! FREE ADMISSION. Games begin around 10am. There is a concession stand where food and snacks can be purchased.

Spring Sale! π·
Save the Date--Saturday, May 10th!
The Spring Bazaar and plant sale will be held Saturday, May 10th at CCS. Mrs. Duty is the coordinator of this event, so if you are interested in being a vendor, please contact her at dutyc@calvertnet.k12.md.us very soon. Crafts are being made (look at the ceramic pot with air plant!), plants are growing, and excitement is building! We look forward to your support at one of our biggest fundraisers of the year.

Ceramic Confections
These low-calorie ceramic donuts look delicious! Ms. Rudell has been instructing students in the ceramic process. The donuts are painted, not glazed (pun intendedπ). There is also a large donut puzzle that was completed in Ms. Prorock's classroom. Sweet things are happening at CCS.
