Ida Jew Academy Parent Newsletter
2019-2020
Ida Jew Academy
February is intentional in the positive messaging it provides. Last week, our teachers began our Project Based Learning lessons to celebrate and highlight the positive impact of the many African American's achievements to mark the beginning of Black History Month. The Project Based Learning units utilize the Social Justice and the Global Citizenship Standards. These standards encourage students to assess their identity, understand diversity, discuss social injustices and take action against bias and injustice. Students will plan a culminating event in history and will have the opportunity to share what they have learned with their peers. Our students continue to be reminded of how inclusive we are as a school community to diversity in and outside of the classroom through our work together throughout the school year.
Parent Connection:
As a reminder, February is intentional in the positive messaging it provides; this Friday 2/14 we are reminded how special it is to show love for others. Take some time this week to say something uplifting your student(s) might like to hear or a friend/family member. Also, communicate the importance of diversity in the world.
Reminders:
- Please make sure to follow all traffic safety rules when entering and exiting the parking lot.
- Student drop-off begins no earlier than 7:30am in the cafeteria.
- Class starts at 8:15am every day (Students need to be in class at this time)
- Student drop off and pick up (please be mindful of students and school representatives)
Note: Our parent newsletter includes some important information about upcoming events/ announcements and communication. We will also be regularly updating information on our facebook page, web site and school marquee.
