**Questions About Kindergarten Academy**
Will my child have a teacher on the first day of school?
Each student will be assigned to a check-in and check-out teacher who will be responsible for attendance and dismissal for the first four days of school.
Do Kindergarten Students Attend Open House?
Yes! You and your student will receive information at Open House (August 19) in regards to who your check-in and check-out teacher will be for the first four days of school. We encourage you to visit both kindergarten classrooms and teachers.
Students will not bring any school supplies at this time. All supplies needed for the first four days of school will be provided.
When will my child be assigned a teacher?
Students will be assigned a teacher for the year at the night of Kindergarten Meet the Teacher Night (August 26). That evening, students and parents will find out who their classroom teacher will be, sign a "letter of intent" with photo opportunities and bring in their school supplies for the year.

Principal's 100 Club
Do you want to be a part of the "Principal's 100 Club"? Students that earn positive referrals from staff will have the chance to win prizes throughout the school year!
Here is how it works:
- Earn a positive referral from a staff member and bring it to Ms. Drummond in the office.
- The student earning the positive referral will draw a number from 1-100.
- The student's name will be placed on the number drawn on the "Principal's 100 Club" bulletin board.
- Once there are 10 squares in a row that are filled with student names, those 10 students and the teachers that referred them will win a prize!
The next prize will be an extra recess for our 10 winners! Let's start earning those positive referrals!
Congratulations to Our Extra Recess Winners!
Do You Know Someone Under The Age Of Five?
This is a FANTASTIC opportunity for all children under the age of 5 in Missouri! Please share this information with anyone that may have a child from 0-5 years. They will receive a FREE book every month mailed directly to their home until they are 5 years old!
Student Drop Off Procedures
Please remember that for the safety and organization of our school, parents are not allowed to enter the classroom/building when dropping off or picking up students. We ask that you to drop your students off at the door and staff members will assist students from there.
Please let anyone else that may be dropping off or picking up your student know what the procedure is.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!

Illness Policy
A reminder of our Student Handbook policy if your child becomes sick during school:
ILLNESS
A phone call home must be made by school personnel through the appropriate office in order for a student to check out due to medical/illness conditions.
a. If a student contacts a parent/grandparent/guardian on their own without going through the appropriate office, he/she will be written up for DEFIANCE OF AUTHORITY/INSUBORDINATION.
b. All students should have an emergency contact on file that can pick them up from school within 30 minutes of being called.
Are cell phones allowed?
If a student is using one of these devices when they aren't supposed to, the student will be asked to bring the device to the office and the handbook referral process will be followed.
*UPDATE (9/18/23)-- JH students-- Please do not AirDrop photos during lunch. Teachers have asked you to stop and this is considered your warning. If this continues, your phone privileges
during lunch will be taken away.
What if I am tardy?
The handbook says:
Tardies Grades 5-12
All students will be required to check in at the office upon arrival and obtain an admit slip prior to going to class. Tardies are cumulative for the semester and reports will be run on a weekly basis.
4 tardies: 30-minute detention
5 tardies: 60-minute detention
6 tardies: ½ Friday School
7 tardies: Friday School
8 tardies: Friday School and closed lunch for one week
9 tardies: Friday School and closed lunch for the rest of the semester
10 or more tardies: At administrator discretion, including but not limited to: Loss of good standing, assigned intervention, and possible OSS.
Keep in mind: Your tardies are CUMULATIVE FOR THE SEMESTER. This means that they keep building up, even after you’ve served the detention. They reset in August and January.
Good Standing
To be considered a student in good standing, a student must not be in violation of the attendance policy, have outstanding discipline referrals OR appear on the current F list.
In order to participate in extracurricular events including (but not limited to): dances, field trips, school-sanctioned sports events; a student must be in good standing.
Students in grades 6-12 that are not in good standing will have closed lunch and be required
to sign in daily in the cafeteria.
How Do I Know If I Am In Good Standing?
Eligibility checks are done every two weeks throughout the school year to determine whether or not a student is in good standing. To be in good standing, a student cannot have any Fs or have an attendance rate lower than 90%.
If you are not in good standing when the eligibility check is done, you are not allowed to participate in or attend extra-curricular activities.
**The next check will be done next Monday April 29, 2024.**
