March/April 2025 Newsletter
Safe, On-Task, Accountable, Respectful
From Dr. Cardenas, Principal
Dear Evergreen Families,
Wow, what a month March has been! I can't help but smile when I think about everything awesome that's happened at our school. We've been busy, and I mean BUSY – in the best possible way!
Just think about it – we pulled off our first-ever Leadership Day, hosted an incredible Talent Show that blew everyone away, and watched our first graders shine on stage. Our fourth and fifth graders have been out exploring the world, and Rooms 24 and 25 have been on some amazing field trips that I know are creating memories they'll never forget.
And can we talk about how the Regional Chamber of Commerce recognized us as an Honor Roll School? How cool is that? It's like a big high-five to our entire Evergreen community – teachers, students, staff, and families who make this place so special.
April is just around the corner, and things are about to get even more exciting. State testing is coming up, so keep an eye on our newsletter for all the details. We'll be sharing important info to help everyone feel prepared and confident.
I'm just so proud of our school. The energy, the enthusiasm, the pure joy of learning – it's everywhere you look. We're not just a school; we're a family that supports each other, challenges each other, and celebrates each other.
Stay tuned, stay involved, and let's make April another month to remember!

Evergreen's First Leadership Day!
What an incredible day at Evergreen as we hosted our first-ever Leadership Day! We were honored to welcome guests from the Leader in Me symposium, surrounding schools and district, schools from various states around our country, parent groups, community members, and more.
From the moment guests arrived, they were immersed in the Evergreen experience -greeted by the DBHS Drum line, student greeters, student paparazzi, a pianist, and so much more! It was a true celebration of leadership in action.
Throughout the day, our students took center stage, leading presentation, performances, classroom visits, and interactive experiences that showcased how Evergreen has embraced the Leader in Me framework to transform our school culture.
It was a day to remember- a powerful reminder of the impact of student leadership and the strength of our Evergreen community. Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate all the #Evergreat things happening at Evergreen!
First Grade Program, "Sprinkle of Kindness"
Our first-grade leaders demonstrated remarkable leadership by showcasing their commitment to kindness during the "Sprinkle of Kindness" performance on March 6, 2025. Through a heartwarming musical presentation, these young Eagles shared powerful songs about friendship and compassion, inspiring their fellow students to embrace these important values. Their proactive approach to spreading positivity serves as an outstanding example for the entire school community!
Rooms 24 & 29 take a trip to the LA Zoo!
"Room 24, Room 29, and several leaders in the Ausome Eagles Action Team participated in a field trip to the LA Zoo on Friday, March 21st! The students enjoyed seeing the animals, playing, and socializing with their friends!"
Fourth Grade Field Trip to San Juan Capistrano Mission
Our fourth-grade class visited Mission San Juan Capistrano to explore California's mission history. Students examined historical artifacts, architectural features, and the mission's gardens, gaining insights into the Spanish colonial period.
The educational tour helped students understand the mission system's role in early California, connecting classroom learning with a hands-on historical experience.
Walk through the American Revolution
"Walk Through the American Revolution" is a dynamic, interactive history program for schools, presented by California Weekly Explorer, that brings the American Revolution to life through games, music, reenactments, and storytelling, designed to engage students in learning about history."
