So proud of these students and the hard work they are putting into their learning and demonstrating their Faith in Action during the month of January. All these students were recognized by their homeroom teachers. JH students were honoured on Wednesday morning in class.
The GILLS students (along with those from November) will have donuts & hot chocolate with Father Ambrose next Tuesday morning. The SPRR students for January will have McDonald's lunch on Wednesday. Way to go Titans!

Scent Aware
Dear Parents and Students,
This is a reminder that our school is a scent-aware environment. The use of scented products such as perfume, cologne, body spray, and other aerosol sprays is not permitted within the school building. Many individuals have sensitivities to strong scents, which can trigger allergies, headaches, or other health issues. We appreciate your cooperation in maintaining a safe environment for the comfort and well-being of everyone. Thank you for your understanding.
Hockey Recreation Program
Great news it looks like we may be able to have a Hockey Recreation Program for Grades 4-9 during the 2025-2026 school year, running alongside our dynamic options. We have 12 students interested and would require 6 more students to proceed.
Please note that students in hockey program will also participate in the REC Field Trips.
- Options: Run at Legal School (if enough interest) or join the EC Kodiaks program (with limited spots).
- No experience needed: All skill levels welcome.
- Gear assistance: Access to affordable gear through Play It Again Sports.
- Fees: Approx. $150 (Legal) / $325 (Morinville), plus optional Rec Field Trips ($230)
Interested parents, please email Mrs. Kleparchuk for details and to express interest.
Keeping Our “Guard Dog” Calm!
At the start of the year, we learned about how our brains work, with a special focus on the amygdala, or our “guard dog.” Sometimes, this guard dog gets triggered and starts barking—even when there’s no real danger—especially when we’re feeling upset. When that happens, it can cause us to “flip our lid.” And when our lid is flipped, it’s hard to think clearly and make safe choices.
The good news is that we can learn how to calm down our guard dog before it takes over! One helpful technique we’ve practiced is deep breathing. By taking slow, deep breaths, we can calm our amygdala and give the logical part of our brain (the prefrontal cortex, or our “wise owl”) a chance to step in and help us regain control.
As a family, you can remind your child to pause, take a deep breath, and count to three when they’re feeling overwhelmed. This simple practice can help them manage big emotions and make better choices when things get tricky.
