UK Band Director Visits TCMS!
Our symphonic band students had the opportunity to rehearse with Professor Brian Froedge, band director from the University of Kentucky on Thursday.
He was very impressed with their work. The students learned a ton and he definitely left with a positive impression of TCMS!
Dewey Awards
Mr. Starks' 7th grade students organized and hosted the Dewey Awards Friday morning! The Dewey Awards recognize the the best student-created videos from this semester. Each video highlighted opposing viewpoints surrounding current issues. One of my favorite student presentations was a video discussing points and counterpoints about equal pay for professional female athletes!
Sixth Grade Solution Symposium
Mr. Starks' 6th Grade Students hosted the Solution Symposium Friday afternoon! During the symposium, students presented speeches with their ideas on how to address the biggest challenges that we are facing as a society.

Books Centered on Adoption and Foster Care
According to the Congressional Coalition on Adoption, there are over 400,000 children in the US foster care system. In 1995, President Bill Clinton named November National Adoption Awareness Month.
In these middle-grade books about adoption, you’ll find orphaned kids, kids in the foster care system, kids being fostered by grandparents or other family members, and those adjusting to being newly adopted. Sometimes, these books can be tough to read, but they are valuable, both as windows and particularly as mirrors.
With honor and respect for our students who are adopted and in the foster system, and the families who are raising them, we recommend these books, hoping in their pages, they'll feel seen and heard.
