King Philip Regional High School
Week of August 21st

November 1, 2024
Principal's Message
Greetings KP Community,
With the close of Term 1 today it is a great time to reflect on the many successes of the school year. Our clubs and activities are well underway, 9th graders have transitioned into the building and are feeling comfortable navigating their way through all aspects of KP, and our students continue to propose new ways to foster a sense of belonging and community within the school.
The start of Term 2 on Monday also brings an opportunity to reset expectations, for students to start fresh in new classes or rededicate themselves to learning in existing classes, and for all of us to find new ways to become more involved in all the KP has to offer. Please encourage your students to reach out to their school counselors if they need help finding clubs to join or if they are experiencing struggles that they need additional assistance with.

Mass Educate covers the full cost of tuition and fees for all eligible students. For more information and how to apply see the Office of Student Financial Assistance website: https://www.mass.edu/osfa/programs/masseducate.asp
Level Changes
Academic level change requests occur during the first two weeks of a course or with administrative approval. It is important that students spend sufficient time in a course before an academic level change is requested so that they and the teacher have the opportunity to determine the appropriateness of the placement.
Any level change that occurs after the first two weeks of the beginning of the course will require an Academic Level Change Request Form. Academic Level Change Request Forms are available in the School Counseling Office and require the student to get the signature of the current teacher and a parent/guardian.
Moving up a level only occurs within the first term. Any exceptions require administrative approval.
All courses dropped after the add/drop period will result in the appearance of a Withdrawal “WP” or “WF” on the student’s transcript. No schedule changes will take place during the last three weeks of a term.
Getting your permit?
If you need residency documentation to obtain your Learner’s Permit or Driver’s License, the Massachusetts RMV requires the following items:
An Official Transcript
A Letter of Residency (which includes student’s DOB and current residential address)
- To have these items prepared, please complete a Transcript Request Form, check off the RVM box, and submit it to the Guidance Office secretary, Mrs. Ludwig or email it to ludwigm@kingphilip.org

Nurse's News:
Parents/guardians - Please be aware that if your child feels ill while at school- please encourage them to visit the nurse's office for evaluation. If we deem it medically necessary, you will be contacted and we will excuse the dismissal. If a student dismisses themselves without being seen by the nurses, their dismissal cannot be excused ( without a doctor's note).
Please keep your students home if they are ill. This includes: fever (greater than 100 degrees and your child may return to school only after their temperature has been consistently below 100 degrees, by mouth, for a minimum of 24 hours), vomiting (even once) and diarrhea.
WE do not carry OR provide cold/cough medicine. We do not carry OR provide Claritin or Allegra
( allergy medicine). The Benadryl we have in the office is for anaphylactic events .
