Show Your Appreciation!
Dear River Hill Families,
As I write to you from Denver, Colorado, where I am attending a board meeting with the American Federation of School Administrators, I am reminded of the dynamic and interconnected world we share. Even from the Mile High City, my thoughts remain with our school community, and I am excited to share some important updates and recognitions.
This coming week, we celebrate Staff Appreciation Week. I encourage each of you to take a moment to send a note of thanks to your child's teacher. Let's also extend our gratitude to all who make River Hill High a thriving learning environment—our paraeducators, front office staff, student services personnel, custodians, food service workers, bus drivers, substitute teachers, and lunch/recess monitors. We are truly fortunate to have some of the best in the county, and their dedication does not go unnoticed.
May has been designated as Jewish American Heritage Month by the Howard County Board of Education. This month, we honor the profound impact of Jewish Americans on our nation's history and culture. Their story is one of resilience, faith, and hope, teaching us invaluable lessons about pursuing justice, equality, and freedom. Let's take this opportunity to learn from and celebrate the rich heritage and numerous contributions of the Jewish community. Our Jewish Student Union has prepared displays for the school highlighting Jewish Americans and their contributions to our country.
A round of applause is due for our choral students and their director, Ms. Kitchelt, for hosting a fantastic concert. Their hard work and talent continue to make us proud. Additionally, congratulations to our Black Leadership Union seniors, who were recently celebrated by the parent group BLU PAC. Their achievements and leadership have significantly enriched our school's culture.
Lastly, please note that our AP testing window begins this week. Below, you will find detailed information about testing expectations and schedules. It's crucial for all participating students to be well-prepared and on time for their exams.
Have a fantastic week!
Warmest regards,
Robert A. Motley
Principal
