Dear Highcroft Families
I wanted to let you know of a great opportunity I am being given to support me and Highcroft Ridge as we move into the second semester. Dr. Kelly Moreton, former principal of Barretts Elementary will be coaching and mentoring me, and present at HCR two days a week. I know coming into this job I have had a huge learning curve. While some aspects were within my wheelhouse, I have made mistakes. I know I have to learn to do and am excited to learn from a veteran educator.
Dr. Moreton is a retired principal from Barrett's Elementary in Parkway where she served for nine years. Previous to this experience she served as a principal in Valley Park and assistant principal at Oak Brook. She started her career as a teacher in various Rockwood schools. Dr. Moreton earned her Ed.D and Masters from Maryville University and BS. Ed from Eastern Illinois University. She currently supports administration and works adjunct at Fontbonne University.
Personally, Dr. Moreton is a wife and mother of two adult daughters, a grandson, and has one on the way. She lives in Parkway and loves to volunteer at DUO (a company for service and therapy dogs). She has a black lab that serves as a certified touch dog and reading dog. Dr. Moreton is a huge Cardinal baseball fan, loves to read, go on walks, travel, eat out, and is most recently into golf.
Highcroft Ridge Elementary and I are very lucky to have extra support and guidance from Dr. Moreton. I am personally thankful that I can continue to learn and grow as I strive to become the principal I know I can be so I can support our amazing students.
