Thank you for supporting the PTO with your spirit wear purchases, P.E. clothes purchases, dues and generous donations. It’s only October, and the PTO is in great shape. With your support, the PTO was able to pass a budget for the year at its first meeting, and we have made a commitment to help fund worthwhile activities such as the 5 Star program and field trips for sixth and seventh grades in spring. In October we will be bringing you a Scholastic book fair and providing staff with a dinner during conferences. Thank you for your continued support.

Occasionally, families ask how they can make a donation that will specifically go towards helping students in need. With these requests in mind, the PTO is pleased to announce the creation of the Spartan Sponsor Fund. Any money donated to this fund will be held by the PTO and made available to students who may not otherwise be able to participate in activities due to financial restraints. If you are interested in donating, ask any board member for details. If funds are available, students seeking assistance should contact Mrs. Dean-Null.

Don't forget, your physical card orders are due on October 5th.

Student pick-up is October 12th, near the door G hallway. A volunteer will be handing out cards to your child if you've completed the student pick-up permission form.

*Reminder: Physical card orders are due the first Friday of the month, and student pick-up is the second Friday of the month.

The Staff Appreciation Committee will be providing dinner for our wonderful staff during student-led conferences. Schmucker Scholastic Book Fair

October 22-24 in the Seminar Room

The book fair will be open this year during Student-Led Conferences. Preview books online or shop online October 17-30 at the Scholastic online website.

Schmucker parents, want to volunteer during the Book Fair? It's a great opportunity to meet other parents! We need volunteers on October 22nd and 24th in the evening 5-9 PM while student led conferences are occurring as well as during the school day. If you're available sign up here. It's easy and fun!

Book Fair Chairs

Join a group of parents to meet with P-H-M School District officials including Superintendent Thacker at noon on the first Wednesday of most months at the ESC to learn more about and discuss happenings at P-H-M schools. The topic for the next meeting on Wednesday, October 3 at 12:00pm is the new Indiana ILEARN test. November's topic is college preparation.

Also, all are invited to attend the Superintendent's Luncheon on October 16, 2018 at noon at the St. Joseph Conference Center in Mishawaka. The featured speaker is Jason Lippert, Lippert Components CEO and P-H-M parent. Tickets may be purchased at phmef.org.

Don't forget to clip and send in labels! This is a very easy way to earn money for our school.

If you can, take a minute to cut and send in Box Tops for Education coupons as well as the UPC barcodes from Our Family and Spartan brand products from Martin's.

If you want to know how much money your child has available from various fundraisers for his/her Washington, D. C. trip, you may need to check with different sources.

Mrs. Fields Fundraiser: For funds raised from the Mrs. Fields fundraiser, please contact SMS. This is a school fundraiser, not a PTO fundraiser.

Scrip: For funds from the PTO Scrip program, please check your personal online Scrip account.

Poinsettia Sales: For funds raised from PTO poinsettia sales, please contact the PTO Treasurer, Nicole McCullough.

Thank you to all the SMS students and families who have ordered Spirit Wear and PE Clothes with the PTO. Spirit Wear orders have been placed with Graphie Tees and we are hoping to have those orders filled and delivered soon. We will pass them out at lunch as soon as they are delivered.

PE shirts are available in the main office year round.

There will be another chance to purchase SMS Spirit Wear in early November.

The Parent Teacher Organization at Schmucker Middle School plays a vital role in supplementing the educational experiences of our children. The funds raised by the PTO allow our students to have opportunities not funded by the school budget.
