Greetings Phalen Virtual Leadership Academy Families,

Happy Friday! I hope you had a fun and safe week without us, and are ready to get back into the PLA Virtual swing of things!

Summer Advantage begins Monday, June 9, 2025. We are so excited to continue to engage in fun summer learning with your family.

Did you miss enrollment? No worries, it is not too late! The more the merrier, and it is an experience your scholars will remember for a lifetime. Our teachers and staff have been in training and preparation this week and are READY for your scholars to join us! Click "reply" to this newsletter and I will get you enrolled!

We will have additional activities planned throughout the summer and will share them out each week, so please stay tuned. Please see a few pics from our Annual Field Day on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at Riverside Park.

We look forward to seeing your scholar(s) on Monday, June 9, 2025 for all enrolled K-8 scholars in Summer Advantage and Thursday, August 7, 2025 for our first day of school!

We need to know if you plan on returning next school year. Please click the link below and fill out the intent to return form. You will need a snapcode that has been provided to you in your email. Check your inbox, spam or junk folder for a “noreply enrollment” email from Powerschool. If you are unable to locate it please reach out to Mrs. Hernandez mhernandez@phalenacademies.org Even if you plan on going to a different school we need to know so please fill out the form as well.

Per the state, the Summer EBT (SUN Bucks) program will be discontinued in 2025. As part of National School Lunch Program (NSLP) requirements, schools are required to advertise the availability of meals through the SUN Nutrition meals programs. Sponsors that do not participate in summer meal service must notify families that meals may be available in the community, and can provide families the below site finder resources:

• Hunger Hotline
• Families seeking food assistance for their children can contact the USDA National Hunger Hotline, operated by Hunger Free America. The hotline can be reached Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. ET at 1-866-3-HUNGRY (1-866-348-6479) (for English) or 1-877-8-HAMBRE (1-877-842-6273) (for Spanish).

The above resource options will be updated to include Indiana locations the last week of May.

While SUN Bucks won’t be available this summer, some schools and community groups are still offering free meal programs.
