Dear Hayshire Families,

This is a very exciting time of year! Our May Day is just around the corner. Mark your calendar for May 3 from 10:00 to 2:00 PM. This is a wonderful family event and Hayshire tradition! We are still in need of volunteers. Please consider volunteering your time to make this a great community event!

We're halfway there! This week, our third graders completed the ELA portion of the PSSA. To kick off the assessment, our third graders participated in a PSSA parade. The entire school cheered them on! We'll continue with the Math on April 29 and 30. Thank you to our families who donated snacks to fuel our test takers!

Summer’s in the bag is back again this year! Your child has an opportunity to receive games and activities to promote learning throughout the summer. Bags will be handed out at the Summer’s in the Bag Family Night on May 28th from 6:00-7:00 PM. For more details, check out the flyer below!

On the horizon, Teacher Appreciation Week is celebrated the week of May 5. Our PTO is collecting donations to celebrate our wonderful teaching staff at Hayshire! If you would like to contribute, please click on this link.

Our next PTO meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 1 at 6:00 PM in the Hayshire library. All are welcome! Child care is provided!

Last week, we completed our C.A.R.E.S. initiative at Hayshire! C.A.R.E.S. is a part of the Responsive Classroom approach to teaching. The hope is to ensure our classrooms are joyful and engaging learning communities.

Assertion: Being a problem-solver, not a problem maker
Responsibility: Doing the right thing, even when no one is watching
Empathy: Taking care of others
Self-Control: Taking care of your body and words

Summer's In The Bag

Third Grade PSSA

This year, our third graders will take the ELA and Math PSSA. ELA will take place on April 23, 24, and 25. The Math portion will take place on April 29 and 30. PSSA letters were sent home with our third graders. On Wednesday, April 9, our third graders participated in a special assembly to prepare for the PSSA.

Presale Tickets are available through Friday, April 25. The event tickets are 25 cents each. During the presale, for every 20 tickets you order for $5.00, you will receive an additional 4 free tickets. Tickets will be available for pick up at May Day at the ticket sales table. May Day Presale Tickets are available through April 25.

May 5-9 is Teacher Appreciation Week. PTO is collecting donations to provide food for our teachers/staff throughout the week. If you would like to donate, please click on this link.
Hershey Park tickets are ready for pick up! If you ordered tickets through Hayshire PTO, they are ready for pick up at the school's office.

CYSD Summer Camps

The Central York School District is proud to offer Summer Camp programs for students of various ages throughout June through August. The programs are available at District Schools, run by Central York Faculty and Staff Members. The camps are open to ALL students who live in the District within the recommended age/grade level (based on 25/26 school year). Your student does not have to attend the school in which the camp is held to participate! Registration is open through May 9, 2025 at 11 PM.
