Global Scholars
Last Thursday, our Year 1 students attended the "Global Careers" event at Franklin University, and it was a fantastic experience! Despite some traffic delays, our students enthusiastically participated.
They had the unique opportunity to engage with professionals whose careers have international components, asking insightful questions about global business, government, and humanitarian work. A highlight of the day was meeting Chef Avishar Barua, a Columbus restaurateur and Top Chef contestant, who inspired students to pursue their dreams.
Students also tackled a hands-on simulation, designing a popsicle product for international markets, considering cultural factors, marketing, and logistics before presenting to an audience.
Jessica Flowers, Director of Education for CCWA, praised our students for their outstanding participation and representation of Mount Vernon High School. We couldn't be prouder of their engagement and enthusiasm!
Students interested in collegiate athletics...
Guidance will be hosting a boot camp for students interested in learning more about playing sports in college. This session will take place next Tuesday, November 26th, during HIVE in Room 132. Mr. Sanford will lead the presentation and share valuable insights for aspiring college athletes.
Encourage your student to attend if they’re considering athletics at the collegiate level!
Congrats to our In the Know team
The Varsity team of Cole Brown, Gavin Zeiner, Corbin Burkey, and Jason Thomas secured an impressive 2nd place finish in their bracket, earning 168 points (for comparison, 3rd place scored 103 points).
Meanwhile, the JV team (pictured below) of Nathan Hofferberth, Evan Guillory, Jonathan Green, Liam Fernandes, and Aidan Jones dominated their bracket with 160 points. They advanced to the Championship match against Crestview and emerged victorious with a decisive 35-20 win.
Congratulations to both teams and Coach Rob Fetters on their outstanding performances!
Career Readiness Advisor
We are excited to share that Mrs. Chris Keaton has taken on a new role at MVHS as our Career Readiness Advisor. She will also assist students who are preparing to enter the workforce directly after high school.
In addition, Mrs. Keaton will collaborate with the guidance counselors to help students develop their Graduation Plans, ensuring they are on track for success after high school.
If you have questions related to post-secondary education (e.g., scholarships, applications, or college requirements), you will still meet with your guidance counselor for assistance.
If you have any questions about career readiness opportunities, feel free to reach out to Mrs. Keaton at ckeaton@mvcsd.us.
