This Week at Windsor 2.10.2021
Teachers make a difference at any distance...
Windsor Families,
It was a short but busy week here at Windsor! Parent-teacher conferences are tomorrow and Friday and will be held remotely. Zoom links were sent out via Schoolmessenger and are also listed below. Just a reminder that we DO have school on Monday the 15th, it is a remote Monday.
Yearbook Orders:
Today is the final deadline for yearbook orders; February 10th.
Link to order: https://inter-state.com/yearbook
School code: 53678C
Valentine's Day
Valentine's Day parties will be held virtually on Monday, February 15th.
Picture Day
Picture Days are February 17th and 18th. If you are a remote-only student, you have the option to take the picture yourself (please see PTA section below) or you can sign-up for a time slot to bring your child to Windsor to have their picture taken. Please be sure to scroll down for more information from the PTA regarding Picture Day and the link to sign-up your remote learner for their picture.
Windsor Drive Drop and Go
Please continue to pull up as far as you possibly can to let your child out, this will ensure more cars can fit onto Windsor Drive. We have multiple staff outside on Windsor Drive as well as at every door entrance, once your child exits your car, please know they are being monitored by staff as they make their way into the building, there is no need to watch them walk into the building as this holds up the carline. Remember, you can park on a nearby side street and walk your child up to the door.
Stay well and stay warm,
Mrs. Anastacio and Mrs. Soprano

5Essentials
Parents, students, and teachers across Illinois will have an opportunity to participate in the ninth annual statewide Illinois 5Essentials Survey. This survey is designed to generate a detailed picture of the inner workings of Windsor School. As a parent, this opportunity will allow you to share your thoughts on the important elements of school effectiveness in a survey about your child’s school.
On behalf of the Illinois State Board of Education, the Illinois 5Essentials Survey will be administered online by UChicago Impact at the University of Chicago. The survey gathers data related to five indicators that can predict important student outcomes, including improved attendance and larger test score gains. These five indicators that affect and predict school success are:
· Effective Leaders
· Collaborative Teachers
· Involved Families
· Supportive Environments
· Ambitious Instruction
All 4th and 5th-grade students will be responding to this survey during the week of March 8th. 5Essentials Reports will be sent to schools and districts in May 2021 and will also be included in the State School Report Card.
Additionally, we have chosen to provide the Parent Supplement survey. If at least 20 percent of Windsor parents complete this survey, a parent supplement report will also be generated.
Your participation in the parent portion of the survey will help us understand the conditions at Windsor School and guide improvement. Your identity and survey responses will be kept completely confidential and will never be connected to you or your child.
Please take few minutes to complete the survey linked below. The survey window will close on April 2, 2021.
Link for parents to take the survey: http://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent/
For more information about the Illinois 5Essentials Survey, or to view previous years’ Reports, please visit https://www.5-essentials.org/illinois. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact 5Essentials Client Services at 1-866-440-1874 or impact-surveys@uchicago.edu.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation!
Kids Heart Challenge
Windsor Elementary Parents,
We are officially launching our virtual Kids Heart Challenge experience at Windsor! Sign up at www.heart.org/khc to take a challenge to stay healthy today (and earn a FREE wristband!)
Click HERE for a message from our friend Emilie at the American Heart Association made especially for Windsor!
Click on the website link for all the details:
https://www2.heart.org/site/SPageNavigator/ym_khc_get_started_guide.html
As inductees into the Heart Hero training program, students will be able to complete daily and weekly missions HERE from now through March 5. When students complete these missions, they will be a true Heart Hero, prepared and ready to battle Heart Disease in our community.
You can get a head start with your student by downloading the Kids Heart Challenge app and register for our team; please follow this link: www.heart.org/khc
We are proud to help the American Heart Association as they are supporting our community in many ways during this pandemic. In a normal year, heart disease is the leading cause of death in America, but now people who have had a stroke or live with heart disease make up more than 40% of those hospitalized for COVID-19. The AHA has already funded $2.5 million in rapid-response grants to study COVID-19’s effects on heart disease patients and launched a COVID-19 Data Registry that is used by hundreds of hospitals nation-wide. This has made it possible to learn from COVID patients quickly and improve treatments more rapidly. The more that is discovered, the more research is needed. The AHA’s full COVID-19 response here.
We understand that not every family may be able to donate this year, but all students will enjoy (and learn from) the weekly missions and have the opportunity to share about heart disease in your family and community. If you are able to help raise funds, the American Heart Association will put those to work right here in our area!
Thank you!

Notes from the Health Office...
Hello Parents!
Please make sure you pack an extra mask for your child in their backpack. If masks get wet or break, they will have an extra. Masks are not effective when they are wet. We do have extra disposable masks available in the office but they are not as comfortable for little faces.
Again, please be sure you let us know if anyone in your home develops any symptoms of COVID and keep all of your children home. Of course, also let us know if your children were a close contact of anyone with COVID and keep them in quarantine for 14 days.
CLOSE CONTACTS:
Now that we have larger groups of children within a classroom, we are not able to keep 6 ft distance between children. It is important for you to understand close contact.
A close contact is an individual who is within 6 feet for greater than 15 minutes to a confirmed positive covid-19 case or probable covid-19 case.
A probable covid-19 case is when an individual is symptomatic AND was recently exposed to a positive covid-19 individual.
***Please note, when we send home a student with symptoms, and they have had NO known exposure, we do not send home close contacts until they are confirmed a positive covid-19 case. However, we will send home any siblings or other individuals who reside in the same home.
SPRING BREAK/TRAVEL:
I’ve received several questions regarding travel. The CDC/IDPH recommends quarantine for 14 days after traveling out of state and country. This applies even for people who have had COVID or COVID vaccination because they don’t have enough data to know if people with immunity to COVID may still be carriers if exposed (asymptomatic carriers). As a school district, we are asking that you please follow the guidelines and keep your children home for the 14 day quarantine period. Especially considering we can no longer maintain 6 feet or greater physical distance. CDC travel information
As always, please let me know if you have any questions or concerns and thank you for partnering with us!
Sincerely,
Darlene Carpenter, RN
Windsor School Nurse

- At the bottom right, select the time. Select Power .
- At the bottom right, select the time. Select Sign out Shut down.
- Press and hold the Power key for 3 seconds.
- Press and hold the Power button until you see a menu to Power off or Sign out
To Power Down Your iPad:
- Press and hold the On/Off/Sleep button at the upper-right corner of the iPad. Slide the bar to Power off.
