Greetings from Pete
September is here and things again are changing. It is time to let go of summer and lean into fall and into what’s next, whatever that may be. Each change of seasons reminds us that we must always let go of something familiar or enjoyable to embrace the unknown of what’s next. We call that “Radical Acceptance." As we let go of summer and embrace the fall season we need to do that work. As I have come to understand Radical Acceptance, it is the practice of making a conscious effort to acknowledge and honor situations that we must contend with and managing the accompanying emotions. There is a need to do the work of letting go of hope or wishing things will be different than what they are. In other words, it is a process of accepting the “what is” of life. Fully accepting “what is” and leaning into things as they are can be a crucial step in moving through change or a difficult experience. Practicing radical acceptance can be very helpful on a path towards transformation, growth and healing as we work towards achieving a deeper sense of meaning in our lives. As we embrace the change in seasons and let go of summer, I would invite you to consider if there are other areas in your life that this practice could benefit you?
