Prayer for the Fifth Sunday of Lent
My loving Lord,
it's so hard to love the world sometimes and to love it the way Jesus did seems impossible.
Help me to be inspired by his love and guided by his example.
Most of all, I want to accept that I can't do it alone, and that trying is an arrogance of self-centeredness.
I need you, dear God, to give me support in this journey.
Show me how to unlock my heart so that I am less selfish.
Let me be less fearful of the pain and darkness that will be transformed by you into Easter joy.
Amen
Dear Parents, Guardians, Friends, and Staff,
As last week's Derby showed, I am clearly not a good footy tipper. Fortunately, I have other strengths, and I am supported by exceptional staff.
Our School Advisory Committee (Board) has commenced a commendation award for individuals who go above and beyond to nurture our Holy Rosary Community. Thanks to the numerous nominations from students and parents, our first commendation goes to Mr. Anthony D’Aloia. Congratulations, Mr. D’Aloia!
I had the privilege of accompanying our Year Six students to experience Bugsy Malone at Newman College on Thursday. The feedback from our Year 6’s was very positive, and they recognised many of our former Holy Rosary students.
Last Friday, our Year Two class hosted a mass, and many parents joined Father Peter for coffee and cake afterward. Father Peter shared his excitement about the large attendance at the parish council meeting on Tuesday. Thank you to everyone who participated.
One of the current topics of discussion is a Netflix series, Adolescence. As a parent, it serves as a reminder for myself to be aware of what my own children are doing online. From the school's perspective, we have already implemented processes for children to seek help from an appropriate adult. Additionally, we are launching URSTRONG's ‘Friendology’ as part of our anti-bullying framework, which ties into our student wellbeing initiatives.
Thank you for our wonderful P & F organising a fantastic social evening tonight.
May you and your family have a wonderful weekend.
Kind Regards
Michael O'Dwyer
Principal

Dear Anthony,

Preparing for Easter: Join Us in Prayer and Reflection
In Week 10, we will gather in prayer and reflection to prepare our hearts for Easter. We warmly invite families to join us for these two events:
✝️ Easter Mass (Years 1-6)
Our Year 6 students will lead us in a reverent Easter Mass on Thursday, 10th April at 9:40am. Families are invited to join us as we reflect on the significance of this holy season.
✝️ Stations of the Cross Re-enactment
Our Year 4 students have been working hard to prepare a moving re-enactment of the Stations of the Cross. This will take place on Friday, 11th April at 9:00am in the gym.
We look forward to sharing these special events with our school community.
🎉👕 Last Day of Term 1 – Free Dress Day! 👖🎉
Friday, April 11th is the last day of Term 1, and we’re celebrating with a Free Dress Day! 🥳 Students can swap their uniforms for their favourite casual outfits as we wrap up an amazing term of learning, fun, and friendship.
Thank you so much to our beautiful community for your donations and for supporting the Project Compassion Second Hand Book Sale yesterday. A HUGE thank you to the AMAZING Library Monitors Remy, Daniella, Alicia, Andrew, Max and Elliot and also the fabulous Mrs Capolingua for all their help. Together we have raised over $200 for Project Compassion and still counting! So many students brought their own money in and donated more than 50c and it was wonderful to see such kindness in action. The students really are Making Jesus Real in their everyday actions. There are still many beautiful books available. There will be a table outside library this Tuesday 8th April, before and after school from 8.30 to 4pm if anyone would like to grab a bag. All donations still greatly appreciated. Have a lovely weekend.

“You give but little when you give of your possessions.
It is when you give of yourself that you truly give.”
― Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet
Another huge thank you to our incredible community for their donations to help our local Vinnies. Today, with the help of the Year Six Christian Service group, we were able to fill their pantry. We are grateful to our Vinnies for allowing us to be a part of something really special and important and give the students an opportunity to help those less fortunate.
The Year Six Pastoral Care group ran a super fun paper plane competition in the gym today to foster belonging and inclusiveness across all age groups.
The Environment Council planted sunflower seeds for us all to enjoy in the Veritas Garden and the Community Service group were so helpful in the classrooms.
These programs are so important here at HR and the students love being a part of something bigger than themselves. Thank you for your continued support.

Holy Rosary Swimming Carnival 2025
What a fantastic day it was at the Holy Rosary Swimming Carnival, held on Thursday, March 28 at HPC Stadium! With the sun shining brightly and temperatures soaring, it was the perfect setting for a day of fun, competition, and school spirit.
The energy was high from the very start, with students cheering on their teammates and showing incredible sportsmanship in every race. The stands were packed with enthusiastic supporters, and we were so grateful for the strong turnout from our school community.
A special thank you goes out to our amazing parent helpers and staff, whose support and dedication helped the day run smoothly. Whether it was timekeeping, marshalling, starting, false start rope or cheering from the sidelines, your presence made a big difference!

Community News
The King of Kings
Exciting news – there is an upcoming cinematic event that promises to inspire and uplift our communities, especially our children. Angel Studios, the creators of impactful Christian stories The Chosen and Sound of Freedom, together with Rialto Distribution, is set to release THE KING OF KINGS in cinemas on 10 April 2025 in Australia.
This animated film, featuring an all-star cast including Kenneth Branagh, Uma Thurman, Mark Hamil, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley, Forest Whitaker, and Oscar Isaac, brings to life the story of Jesus Christ through the imaginative lens of Charles Dickens narrating to his son, Walter. You can watch the trailer here https://youtu.be/Ddiqz3BT7i8 .
THE KING OF KINGS is more than just a movie—it’s a powerful tool for faith formation and moral reflection. This heartfelt retelling of Christ’s journey emphasises His love, sacrifice, and triumph, making it especially relevant for children as they grow in their understanding of faith. Through its engaging storytelling and stunning animation, the film connects timeless Christian values—compassion, courage, and hope—to the challenges of our modern world. It’s an opportunity to inspire young hearts and minds while offering families a shared experience that reinforces the Gospel in a fresh, relatable way.
