MEADOWVALE MESSENGER
FEBRUARY 2022
Message from Mrs. Eltschlager, Principal
I hope everyone is staying safe and warm during these snow days. Take this opportunity to read with your children a little bit longer and practice those sight words and math facts. Being a former third-grade teacher, I will always be the "meanest mom ever" for making my children do some school activities before starting our snow day fun!
Please remember the district is starting an Early Release Friday beginning February 4 until the end of the school. See the information below for more details. We are grateful to Dr. Anstadt and our School Board for helping our staff through another difficult pandemic year.
Enjoy the snow!
Respectfully,
Mrs. Eltschlager, Principal

IMPORTANT INFORMATION!!
ATTENDANCE LINE-- 419-473-8281 - Add this important number to your cell phone.
Please call this number when your child will be sick. Leave a message as to the reason why your child will be absent.
- COVID RESTRICTIONS--- No outside food or drinks can be delivered to students. Birthday treats must be in individually wrapped packages. Unfortunately, we can not accept store-made cupcake containers.
Tardies to School
Tardies will continue to accumulate through the end of the semester. Students must show up to school on time and arrive at class on time. School starts at 9:00am. Students will receive an after-school detention after five tardies to school.
EARLY RELEASE OF STUDENTS
If you need to pick up your child early from school, please follow the guidelines below. It is important that you do not show up expectedly at school. This helps the office staff as well as the teacher to be prepared.
- Send your student with a written note on the day of early release.
- Indicate pick-up time and who will be picking up the student.
- The student should give the note to the office when they arrive at school in the morning.
- You must contact the office by 2:00 to make ANY changes.
Morning Drop-Off Reminders
- Please do not park and get out of the car to drop off your child during these times.
- Do not allow your child to get out on the driver's side of the car and into the street. Cars are always passing.
- Please pull forward to the yellow "drop off sign" (where Mrs. Eltschlager stands).
- Have your child(ren) ready to exit the car when stopping (seatbelt unbuckled, mask on, bookbag ready, and kisses done). Encourage your child to be quick.
- No need to wait and watch your child walk into the building. We got them!
- Be courteous to Mrs. Aiken at the intersection. She is truly a nice person!
- The first bell rings at 8:45 am, the second bell rings at 8:55am, and the tardy bell rings at 9:00am When you see the Safety Patrol students walking in, all students should be inside the school building by then.
- If you pull out of line after dropping your child off, remember school zones are always 20 mph.
- Please remember...It takes time to drop off and pick up your child(ren) each day. It's part of every school's daily procedures. Keeping our students safe is always the number one concern.
HOT SHOT FINALISTS!
They will be competing in the finale on February 7, 2022.
LET IT SNOW!!
With the cold weather upon us, please be sure that your students come to school dressed warmly for outdoor recess. We want students to get outside for recess and get fresh air. Students will go outside if the WINDCHILL is 19 degrees or above. It is extremely important that students come to school with coats, hats, gloves and, if necessary, boots.
If your child is in need of a winter coat or boots, please call Mrs. Mee, our school secretary.
EARLY RELEASE FRIDAYS
Beginning on Friday, February 4, and during the remainder of the school year, Washington Local Schools will have shortened school days on Fridays– Early Release Fridays– so teachers can plan, discuss curriculum, and identify how to meet individual students' needs.
Students will be dismissed early on Fridays starting February 4.
K-6 students will be released at 1:30 PM.
7-12 students will be released at 12:30 PM.
You should expect transportation dismissal routes to run approximately two hours earlier than normal on Early Release Fridays. Students will be served lunch before dismissal. Families whose children attend after-school child care should make appropriate arrangements to address this change in schedule.
Please remember the front of Meadowvale remains a no parking zone. You never know when TPD will be around, and it's awful to see parents receiving a parking ticket at dismissal.
NEW SPIRIT WEAR OPTIONS AVAILABLE!
Meadowvale is excited to announce we have launched an official online spirit wear store. The reason for the change is that this will now allow parents, grandparents, friends to order spirit wear items at ANY time throughout the school year and have the items delivered directly to your home! We are not limited to certain months to order. Therefore you can order Meadowvale swag for any occasion or just because! Choose from hundreds of designs and garments that are delivered to your home in days! To celebrate the grand opening, use code SPIRIT-FS to receive 25% off and get free shipping on orders over $25.

School Delays and Closings
School closings and delayed openings will be announced on local radio stations, television stations, and WLS Facebook and Twitter Accounts. Announcements will use the school system's title: Washington Local Schools. The district also has a closing/delay voice mailbox, which is activated when a decision is made (usually about 6:00 a.m.). This phone number is 419-473-8499. Please do not call the schools, the Administration Building, the Transportation Department, or the radio and television stations. When schools are closed, school system events that day and evening are automatically canceled.
