May Talefeathers

Hudlow has AMAZING Teachers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Parents and students,
As we prepare for the end of the year, let’s think about some accomplishments and concerns that we may all have: academic gains / loss, behavior indicators , physical activity, friendships, and most important schedules. It is so important to keep a calendar with all the upcoming activities and family functions. Students thrive on schedules and routines. Anticipate your child missing the daily routines of school, have them continue with some mental math activities, reading books and most definitely having great conversations that peek their interest and keep them thinking outside the box.
Attendance continues to be our priority. We can only teach and support your child, when they are present and engaged. Parents, thank for helping our with the drop off and pick up system. It helps when everyone cooperates and keeps the line moving.

Health Office News:
When sending your child with snacks, make sure they are healthy snacks: apples, grapes, bananas, pretzels, and strawberries for example. Keep all the other sugary or high salty snacks for home celebrations. Send your child with a water bottle to keep them hydrated. Remind your child to wash hands throughout the day, especially before eating. Encourage your children to eat healthy meals at home and get plenty of exercise. Stay safe!

HUDLOW Full STEAM Ahead Summer Program Registration (office.com)
Tucson Unified School District is committed to helping your son/daughter perform at their highest potential. The summer Full STEAM Ahead program offers students a small learning environment focused on addressing grade level learning gaps. The strategies and lessons that will be provided will help students progress rapidly on the reading and math skills they are still developing. The district provides evidence-based interventions, uses specific data to identify students and monitor their progress, and adjusts the intensity and nature of those interventions depending on a student’s responsiveness.
NO SLUR School
Hudlow students had a presentation about Racial Slurs. They are aware that Hudlow is a NO SLUR School. Hudlow Leadership and teachers have reviewed the slurs procedure and follow up with students. Students are to report incidents to their teachers, or any adult that is close by to support.
Procedure
When a Hudlow student or adult hears a slur / put down, student or adult reports a slur / put down, the following happens:
- Hudlow adults will notify the parents of the student who used the slur / put down.
- Hudlow adults will make a synergy report to keep track of incidents.
- Email the incident to Mrs. Almonte or Mrs. Alicia (in case Mrs. Almonte is out), and the child's general education teacher if the teacher isn't reporting.
- When a third incident is reported and documented, there will be a consequence (depending on the circumstances).
Please review these procedures and expectations with your child. We hope this helps with further incidents.
