I love our school, do you love our school!
Our gifts as educators/parents are meant to be shared and used to benefit others; essentially, the purpose of receiving a gift is to give it away to others in service and love.

Mariner Family,
Subject: The Power of Ongoing Communication in Supporting Student Success
As we move forward into the school year, I want to take a moment to emphasize the vital importance of consistent, student-centered communication between our teachers and families. This ongoing dialogue plays a crucial role in ensuring that every child receives the support they need to succeed—academically, socially, and emotionally.
The partnership between school and home is one of the most powerful tools we have in supporting student growth. Regular communication helps keep us all informed about a student’s progress. Teachers are able to share insights about academic performance, skill development, and areas for improvement, and this information allows parents to reinforce learning at home. When we work together to celebrate achievements and address challenges, we create a consistent and positive experience for students.
An important aspect of this communication is the regular sharing of student data. Whether through assessments, classwork, or other feedback, understanding where a student excels and where they may need additional support allows us to make informed decisions about next steps. Through open discussions about these data points, we can identify individualized goals and strategies to ensure that every student continues to make meaningful progress—both in the classroom and at home.
When teachers and families align on the next steps for a student’s growth, it strengthens the support system that surrounds them. Whether that means reinforcing skills with additional practice, adjusting instructional strategies, or providing emotional encouragement, this shared commitment helps students move forward with confidence and clarity.
Ultimately, our goal is to create a community where every student feels supported, understood, and empowered to succeed. Through consistent and thoughtful communication, we can work together to foster that sense of community and shared responsibility for each child’s journey.
I encourage you to stay in close contact with your child’s teacher, whether through emails, phone calls, or scheduled conferences. If you ever have questions or concerns about your child’s learning, please don’t hesitate to reach out. By continuing to collaborate in this way, we can ensure that every student’s educational experience is as fulfilling and successful as possible.
Thank you for your ongoing support and dedication to your child's education. Let’s continue this journey with enthusiasm. Together, we can make a meaningful and lasting difference.
Mariner Family, Stay the Course, Seas the Day, and SAIL together. Together we will continue to impact the IHCS campus and our Perris community! Keep believing. Believe in yourself, believe in our students, believe in our parents, believe in our teachers. “You Gotta Believe!” - It’s our turn.
Sincerely,
Your dedicated admin team -
Assistant Principal, Mrs. Barry, Assistant Principal, Mr. Castro, and Principal, Mr. Candelaria
Inside our ship
Professional Development Opportunity: In the pictures you will see a sound wall, a slide referring to similar sounds that students confuse when learning to read, and a group of professional educators continuing their professional development in order to support all students to learn at high levels. The sound wall, the group of educators and the slide are all connected to the LETRS professional development opportunity. The Lexia LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) Suite is comprehensive professional learning designed to provide early childhood and elementary educators and administrators with deep knowledge to be literacy and language experts in the science of reading. Developed by Dr. Louisa Moats and leaders in the field of literacy, Lexia LETRS teaches the skills needed to master the foundational and fundamentals of reading and writing instruction—phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and written language.
7th Grade Reading: 7th grade students enter their class and are handed a new book to read. They are excited and Mrs. Goodrich is increasing student engagement by greeting each student at the door and individually welcoming each student with a brand new book.
7th grade reading standards include:
English Language Arts: Reading Informational Text
RI.7.1 Domain: Key ideas and details. Cite several pieces of textual evidence to support analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text.
RI.7.2. Determine two or more central ideas in a text and analyze their development over the course of the text; provide an objective summary of the text.
RI.7.3. Analyze the interactions between individuals, events, and ideas in a text (e.g., how ideas influence individuals or events, or how individuals influence ideas or events).
Parking Lot Safety: Parents, we need your help. In order to keep students and adults safe please follow the parking lot rules and signs that are posted for all drivers to follow. The signs are included in this bulletin. The signs posted between the two lanes in our parking lot are there to keep children and students safe at all times. Please drop off your student in the left lane near the curb side only. Do not let your student out of the car when you are in the lane to the right. When you are in the lane on the right side, you are supposed to enter the parking lot to the right, park in a parking space, and assist your student to the crosswalk where there is a crossing guard to assist all parents and students across the crosswalk and back to the parking lot area.
Perfect Attendance Popcorn! Students who had perfect attendance received a popcorn treat at the Perfect Attendance Popcorn lunch! Thank you MTSS team and Ms. Multhaupt, Ms. McGaughey, Ms. Montgomery, and Coach Ramos, for your creativity, planning and support with this event. And thank you Mariners for getting to school on time, each and every day!
CAMP and Computer Science: CAMP is an important part of our K-5 program and it stands for Computers, Art, Music and Physical Education. Pictured are students in our computer science room who are learning, loving their school and being assisted by their computer science teacher Ms. Harkema.
Community Circle: Third grade students begin their daily community circle with Mrs. Martinez, to bring them together and set the tone for their learning day.
