FAMILY ENGAGEMENT
FANCHER's Breakfast and Books
Hello Fancher Families! We are excited to share an opportunity for you to come to Fancher and read with your child. The event is called "Breakfast and Books" and it's happening on Friday, October 4th from 8:35-9:15 AM.
This also serves as our Annual Parent Meeting, so once everyone gets settled in your child's classroom, we will show a short video about our Academic Programs at Fancher and then you'll have some time to enjoy breakfast and a book.
A few additional details:
- If you have children in multiple classrooms, you are all welcome to read together. It would probably be easiest for your older child to come to your younger child's classroom, but you are free to do whatever works best for your family.
- On the morning of this event, your child can eat their school-provided breakfast while you read together. You are also welcome to bring your own coffee and breakfast from home if you'd like. We will provide some light breakfast items for parents in each classroom.
- Please line up with your child at their usual morning doors/lines and enter the building as a class at 8:35 AM. We'll wrap up this event right at 9:15 AM. If you need to leave a little sooner, that's no problem at all!
Please feel free to reach out with any questions...we hope to see you on Friday, October 4th!

3 - Meets Standards
2 - Making Progress
1 - Skill Not Developed
N - Not Assessed this Trimester
MEDICATION SCHOOL POLICY
If your student will be taking medications at school we have a form for that:
All medications must be brought to the office with the appropriate health form. Please do not send medications to school with your child. This includes inhalers and epi-pens.

THE COUNSELOR'S CORNER
SOAR - Safety. Ownership. Attitude. Respect
Fancher Falcons SOAR
We kicked of the new school year at Fancher Elementary teaching and learning SOAR (Safety Ownership Attitude Respect), to teach and reinforce positive behavior expectations in all areas of the school from the classroom to the playground. Each area of our school day, has a focused set up positive expectations that we teach, model, and practice - on what Safety looks like, Ownership, Attitude, and Respect.
Our SOAR matrix is at the front of your student's agenda in the pages include for the student handbook, we encourage you to review these expectations at home with your child too.
Daily our students earning Dojo Points for meeting positive expectations, we recognize students who are SOARing with our Fancher School Store, Positive Office Referrals, Positive Postcards mailed home, and SOAR Student Shout Outs each month.
We know our students are still growing and developing mentally and socially, so we recognize it is always a work in progress when teaching and reteaching expectations. We utilize restorative practices - including repairing the harm, circle ups, and more.
We appreciate your partnership in supporting our Fancher Falcons to SOAR!

SAFETY
Safety Emergency Drills
Students have now practiced each part of our lockdown protocol. We have practiced a Fire Drill as a building.
During the school year, our buildings are obligated to practice at least 5 Fire Drills, 2 Tornado Drills and 3 Lockdown drills. At times, we do have our YSU Liason or other police officers from the Police Department assist in our drills. We cover with our students the locations of where to go for each drill, what to do during specific drills, and how to properly evacuate when it is needed. You can also find this information in your child's Handbook in the front of the student agenda.
I encourage you to check out our district website where we have information that pertains to our district school safety. Click here to get to the website.
Youth Services Unit Monthly Update
MPPS uses the A.L.I.C.E lockdown model. We will discuss each letter acronym individually and conclude this segment with a brief overview of all of the letters and how we implement this. First we will start with A.
The A in A.L.I.C.E stands for Alert.
Being fully aware of one's surroundings is at the heart of situational awareness. Awareness includes recognizing suspicious persons or packages and knowing where the exits are inside a building. Alert is also about overcoming denial and accepting reality. A speedy response can save lives. Knowing when something isn’t right and being able to recognize it is crucial. Reminder: Be sure you know how to put the building into lockdown.
Please complete Education Benefits
Dear Families:
The Mt. Pleasant Public School district is pleased to continue to offer FREE BREAKFAST AND LUNCH for all students, regardless of income.
Thanks to increased federal and state funding, all students will continue to receive free breakfast and lunch this year. This essential program ensures that every student begins their day with a nutritious meal, supporting their educational journey with a focus on healthy eating habits. Beyond that, this will continue to relieve financial pressures on families and create a more inclusive and supportive learning environment for everyone.
PLEASE complete the Education Benefits Form, for the 2024-2025 school year. This form is important because it helps our school receive state and federal funding for educational programs.
The number of eligible students is used to determine how much funding a school receives. Families are asked to complete a new form each school year, unless they receive written notification that their child is approved through Direct Certification.
Please log into Final Forms at your earliest convenience to complete the Education Benefits form.
