The Academy for Science and Health Professions at CHS
From the Headmaster...
We are off and running!
I spend most of my day in classrooms with your students, and I'm enjoying every minute I get to spend with this outstanding group of young people.
Lots of information will be coming out, lots of deadlines will be approaching, and lots of activities will be vying for your student's attention. Please help them stay organized, keep track of due dates, and stay on top of emails and classwork.
But above all else, please check in with your student regularly to make sure he/she is doing ok. Our students often struggle to put their mental and emotional health first, and they rely on us to help them learn how to maintain balance.
We love your student almost as much as you do, and we want them to be successful AND happy!
As always, please reach out if I can be of assistance.
William Kelly
Headmaster, ASHP
PREPARING FOR THE PSAT
Our 9th and 10th graders take it on the same day to help prepare them for their junior year.
Our PSAT scores can be higher! To help our students prepare, we have been working with them to create personalized study plans (based on their previous scores) through Khan Academy and the College Board.
We will be offering incentives for students who spend time practicing and completing their personalized study plan. (i.e. extra credit, Academy gear, etc..)
Please encourage your student (maybe there are incentives at home as well?) to spend some time preparing for October 13!!!
EXPLORATION CREDIT OPPORTUNITIES
On our website, there is now a button to a list of upcoming events that will be updated as events are scheduled.

Meet our staff!
Mr. Peterson graduated Salutatorian from Caney Creek High School in 2002. He studied Mechanical Engineering & Mathematics at Texas A&M University Class of ‘06. (Whoop & Gig 'Em!) This is his 15th Year Teaching (3rd at the Academy). He has been married to his wife, Amber for 11 years with 2 kids (Drake 11, Ariel 6). He loves hiking and running Obstacle Course Races. He's a fan of the Astros & Aggies!
Let's Meet!
On September 15th, from 6 - 7 pm in the CHS Auditorium, I will host a Parent Meeting for all Academy Parents.
I have talked to many parents and students about confusion regarding Academy-specific requirements (i.e., internships, community service, explorations, etc...).
At this meeting, I hope to review and clarify these expectations, answer your questions, and get to know the families that make up The Academy.
If there are additional topics you would like for me to address, please email me at: wkelly@conroeisd.net

If you were unable to attend the CHS Senior Parent Night last week, below you can find a recording of the meeting. Your senior is hearing this same information through their English 4 class so I encourage you to use this presentation as a way to start conversations about what they have planned for after high school.

Remaining Open takes everyone
We understand and share your concerns about the increase of COVID-19 cases in our community. We continue to recommend and strongly encourage that all employees, students, and families take all precautions necessary to protect one another. Regular hand washing, staying home when sick, and wearing a mask or face covering as appropriate are practices that helped keep our district open last year. Our building and classrooms are also e-misted daily along with being cleaned in accordance with our standard practices.
Prevention of disease transmission in our schools will take all of us working together. Please visit Conroe ISD’s Roadmap to Remaining Open website for updated guidance, COVID-19 testing information, and frequently asked questions.
