The Quiet Crew ASL Club Sessions
Presented by Muskingum Valley ESC

Busy Hands, Busy Brains:
What if we could combine physical movement with muscle memory to produce powerful learning? Sometimes we need to change the way we teach to appeal to a variety of learning styles. Take a minute to consider how whole brain learning concepts can appeal to students and teachers. The Quiet Crew concepts are easily implemented into daily instruction and sprinkled throughout the classroom environment to appeal to kinesthetic intelligence.
Flexible and Convenient:
Teachers can decide dates and times for sessions and complete the classes "live" from the safety of their own classroom.
Online Follow-up and Review:
Using our online ASL portal, classroom teachers can access review videos, activities, and resource materials throughout the year.

Quiet Crew Subscription Details:
- Quiet Crew Subscriptions are a series of 5 (30-40 minute) interactive lessons per teacher/per classroom.
- Topics are chosen by participating teacher.
- Times/dates are chosen by participating teacher. (can be scheduled 1 per day for 1 week or once weekly, etc.)
- District or building teacher teams can be connected simultaneously.
- Connections occur via fieldtrip zoom. A web-link will be provided prior to the connection.
- Subscribers will have anytime access to the “ASL Portal” following the first connection through August 31st.
- Additional subscriptions or connections can be purchased following the completed subscription to access different topics.

Fire Safety and Prevention with Firefighter Shaun

Join Firefighter Shaun as he talks about fire safety and prevention and takes your class through his hazard house, teaches them about when to dial 9-1-1, when to stop, drop and roll, teaches them about tools and toys and other fire safety and prevention concepts. Firefighter Shaun finishes his program, which is filled with sound effects and fun, with a musical puppet show re-enforcing all of the concepts taught.
Versions of this program are available for grades Pre-K-2.

The Science of Fire with Professor Sparks and Spot 2000

Astronomy Day 2019! Observing the Sun

Celebrate National Astronomy Day 2019 with UT McDonald Observatory during this special videoconference! During the videoconference, Marc Wetzel and your students will take a brief helicopter tour of the UT McDonald Observatory, visit huge research telescopes, make real-time telescope observations of our star the Sun with telescopes equipped with special video cameras and solar filters (weather permitting), complete a Student Sun Drawing Sheet, and learn about the solar features they observe on the sun by watching unique science demonstrations. Telescope views will be real-time; in case of inclement weather or equipment problems, recorded views will be provided.
Gingerbread Boy

Students witness the classic tale of The Gingerbread Boy come to life with brilliantly colored shadow puppets. The story is narrated and performed during the first part of the program. Led by the program presenter, students make their very own Gingerbread Boy Shadow Puppet during the second half of the program. They also participate in a learning activity about gingerbread's ingredients and history. This is a great holiday program.

The Virginia Opossum is the only Marsupial, or mammal with a pouch, in the United States. Many people fear or dislike opossums due to some common misconceptions and their adaptability to urban environments, but they are actually very interesting animals. You will meet a live Virginia Opossum and explore the unique adaptations that have helped it adapt in its wild habitat and to an urban environment. We will also clear up some public misconceptions and introduce many awesome traits about this animal.

This November, celebrate Native American Heritage Month with the Old Jail Art Center. Your students will explore Navajo weaving traditions through a delightful children’s story, a close-up viewing of Navajo art from the museum collection, and a classroom weaving activity. Enjoy the classic children’s book, A Goat in the Rug, by author Martin Link, and then investigate Navajo symbolism through authentic, antique weavings.
Activity Grades 1-2: Each student will create a colorful paper weaving inspired by traditional Navajo animal imagery.
Activity Grades 3-5: Students will create a woven vessel of their own using traditional colors and designs.

Discover the traditions of el Dia de los Muertos with the Old Jail Art Center! Enjoy the story of Rosita y Conchita by author Eric Gonzalez and investigate the cultural significance of the Ofrenda. Students will observe Pre-Columbian artifacts from the museum collection to investigate the cultural significance of the Ofrenda. Students will explore the history of Papel Picado (the art of punched paper design). Students will review concepts of symmetry and pattern before watching the creation of a colorful luminaria with punched designs.

Join master storyteller, author, and playwright Barbara Hailey as she explains how inner strength and resilience will lead you through life’s struggles as well as the importance of one’s character and dreams. George H.W. Bush was always known as a man of high moral character, and throughout his life he was faced with trials and tribulations that put him to the test. President Bush relied on his strength of character and personal values to direct him on the path to achieve his dreams. Both President Bush’s letters in All the Best and Barbara Hailey’s book The Wizard of Oz is in You! address how important our character and our goals are in leading us on the right path in life. FieldTripZoom Zone is the live event calendar where you “tune into” live educational broadcast with many other classrooms.
Step 1: Register Your Account
1) Go to www.fieldtripzoom.com and register your account. Click Free Sign-Up.
2) Click Register, and an email will be sent to your email address where you will click on it to “activate” your account. Please use your school email address.
3) Next go back to www.fieldtripzoom.com and Log In to your account. Once logged in you will be asked to complete your profile. This is a one-time set up of your profile.
Step 2: Find Your Live Event
1) Once logged in, you can navigate to your FieldTripZoom Zone calendar of subject areas. Also, you can search for programs by grade range and subject area by clicking from the search menu. Click on any subject area to expand to the program details.
**Make sure you are in the Zone calendar (not class) when booking events.**
Step 3: Book Your Event
1) Click on the BOOK button to schedule a program. An email will be sent to your email address with the information to connect to the program.
2) Save the email or add the program to your Google Calendar.
3) You do not have to cancel the event if you cannot attend it. You can view the recording at a later date.
