Meet our new Literacy Coach, Erin Peavey
Erin is excited to join the Holy Cross family as a literacy coach! Erin received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Kansas and is a proud Jayhawk. She began her teaching career teaching middle school Reading at Sacred Heart of Jesus School, then went on to teach English Language Arts in the Blue Valley School district for seven years. Most recently, Erin was a Title teacher at Resurrection Catholic School in KCK, where she taught reading intervention and assisted in the Resource room for grades K-8. She is thrilled to be able to use her experience, love of teaching, and excitement for learning in her role at Holy Cross! Erin and her husband have three children, Luke, Claire, and Madeline. They are parishioners of Holy Trinity in Lenexa. Erin spends most of her free time shuttling kids around to activities, but when she can, she likes to read a good book or watch a new show with her husband. She can’t wait to meet the rest of the HC staff, students, and families!
Meet our new First Grade teacher, Diane Olson
Diane Olson is very excited to begin her new job with Holy Cross. She received a Master’s degree in Special Education from Morningside College and a Master’s degree in English Second Language from University of Missouri Kansas City. She began her career teaching Special Education students that struggled with learning disabilities such as Attention Deficit Disorder and Dyslexia. Ms. Olson then was asked to teach Non-English speaking students. She has been a member of the Catholic Church her whole life. Diane understands the importance of incorporating Faith into the curriculum and in life skills. She attended Catholic schools and the tradition continued with her daughter and now her granddaughter.
Ms. Olson was raised in Iowa and learned firsthand how to be creative on a limited budget. She was taught to cook, sew, plant a garden, and can vegetables. She loves to create lessons that encourage the artistic talents of the students.
Ms. Olson looks forward to meeting her students and and their families.
New Date for "New Family Orientation" will be later this summer! Stay tuned!

Middle School Parents=BYOD
Middle School Parents,
Holy Cross Catholic School middle school students are required to provide their own Chromebook device for use at school and at home for homework. This is part of their school supply list. It will be something they use multiple times a day, every day.
Below is a list of devices that would work for our system and what they will be doing in class. These are just a few options. You are welcome to choose whatever device you see fit for your child as long as it is a Chromebook. If you find another device and want to double check it will work please email me at lloeffert@holycrosscatholicschool.com.
Chromebook device options for Holy Cross Students:
Acer Chomebook Spin 513 Convertible Laptop
I would also recommend a carrying case for the chromebook. I have seen many chromebooks fall on the floor, get jostled around, and not cared for as well as we would hope. Having a case to place the Chromebook in while switching classes could increase the longevity of the device.
Students are required to have this device on the first day of school and it will be connected to the system for the duration of their time at Holy Cross.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
