It's November! Several years ago, a friend introduced me to the idea of embracing gratitude throughout the month of November by sharing what I'm thankful for each day. If you haven't tried the practice, I would recommend it. There is lots of research that indicates that practicing gratitude does great things for us physically and emotionally. Today I am grateful for our amazing staff. We had the opportunity to meet together today and do some professional learning. I am always grateful for their commitment to our students and our community, for their passion for their subject matter and for kids, and for their expertise.
What a week we had! A four day week with Halloween is always an adventure at middle school. We saw amazing costumes on Thursday and I hope that you had a wonderful Halloween if you celebrate it.
Next week, our musical theatre students will be performing "We are Monsters." They have been working hard to prepare the musical and learn their lines, songs and choreography. I hope that many of you can join us for the shows. See below for the times and location.
As our weather changes, I want to remind you about a couple of things. First, on Thursday mornings if you would like your child to be supervised during late start (8:55-9:55 am), they need to be in the building by 9:05. After that, they will need to wait to come in until 9:48. Breakfast closes on Thursday mornings at 8:55 just as it does any other day. Second, we go outside for recess if the temperature is above 20 degrees unless it is actively precipitating. Please be sure that your child dresses accordingly. Third, students may enter the building for clubs at 8:05 each day (unless they are in a club that starts earlier). They need to dress warmly on club days if they arrive before 8:05.
Thank you for supporting and believing in your neighborhood school. It is our privilege to partner with you!

Book Study Opportunity
Our book study on the book 10-25:The Science of Motivating Young People by David Yeager. The book is about how to help young people between the ages of 10 and 25 to feel inspired, enthusiastic, and ready to contribute rather than discouraged, outraged or overwhelmed. It is equally powerful for parents, educators, mentors, coaches, and managers. We have a wonderful group of parents and staff members and have powerful conversations each week. We meet on Wednesday evenings at 5:00. Purchase the book, read chapter 6, and join us in the conference room on Wednesday evening!

Getting Ready for We Are Monsters
PTA CORNER
PTA (PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION) CORNER:
Our focus is on building lasting connections between families, getting to know our student’s teachers, and creating opportunities to come together as a community, valuing our diversity and celebrating our differences.
Upcoming Meeting Dates:
Our next PTA meeting is Wednesday, November 6th at 6:30 pm in the Library and on Zoom and our December meeting will be a Holiday Potluck on Wednesday, December 4th a 6:00 pm in the Cafeteria. We look forward to seeing you there!
Elementary School Outreach:
5th grade families in our area are visiting middle schools and gathering info about their options this month. Would you be willing to talk to parents at the elementary schools, whether that is by speaking as part of a panel or informally meeting for coffee just to chat with people? If this is something that interests you, please email everittpta@gmail.com. Thank you!
Ways to help raise funds for Everitt PTA:
- Does your employer provide matching funds or are they looking for a community non-profit to donate to?
Everitt PTA is a 501c3 non-profit and would be happy to talk to your employer or help with any paperwork needed. While we focus on community building and not fundraising, additional funds could be put to good use helping to outfit more classrooms with the SmartBoard technology your kids have used in some, and all rooms can make great use of them!
- Have you linked your King Soopers Community Rewards yet?
Help raise funds for Everitt just by doing your grocery shopping! Everitt PTA is enrolled in the King Soopers Community Rewards Program. This is a great way to support the school without spending additional money, all you have to do is enroll and King Soopers will give back to Everitt! 🍎🌽🥦🍊
• Go to www.kingsoopers.com
Once logged into your King Soopers or City Market account go to My account ~ Community Rewards ~ search for Everitt Middle School PTA either by name or FT620 and then click Enroll. New users will need to create an account which requires some basic information, a valid email address and a loyalty card.
Renew or become a member of Everitt PTA:
Provide core support for our PTA by becoming a PTA Member for the 2024-2025 school year. Dues are just $15 and allow us to be part of the state and national PTA networks and have seed money for our PTA projects. Even if you cannot make the PTA meetings regularly, becoming a PTA member is an excellent way to support our school community! To join, complete this form: https://forms.gle/MKp3Fokrn7zSioBY7 and Venmo $15 to @Everitt-Middle. Dues should never be a barrier for participation in PTA, so please email EverittPTA@gmail.com if we may help you with your dues payment.
If you have already signed up, THANK YOU, we will reach out shortly to confirm everything came across well!

When another student spilled math manipulatives all over the floor, Bella W immediately came over to help pick them up without being asked to do so. She shows kindness to those around her.

River P is holding down the fort in the flute section as most of her section splits band and orchestra. She has been working so hard and is achieving great things on her instrument! I'm super proud of her progress!
Brody S is doing a great job this year in band class. He advocates for himself and is trying different instruments to find his best one. He is driven and is working hard. I see so much growth from 5th grade!
Liam H shows up to work everyday. His progress on trombone is HUGE this year. He works so hard and is making big gains. He's ready to go everyday.

Arianna B stood up for others to her closest of friends even when it seems scary. This is rare to see in someone her age and she deserves to be applauded for it. Her moral compass and bravery is burning right. She should be so proud of herself cause I know I am!
Klara D amazes me. The work she has produced on stage is stunning. She works so hard to deliver quality work. The notes she takes throughout class is exemplary. She is kind, thoughtful, and energetic. Klara, you are a true leader and someone I can trust to always be ready and doing the right thing.
Seamus O has a very strong moral compass and never hesitates to stand up for others when he sees something wrong. I only hope to see this continue to grow in you!
