New Students - Sign Up for Kindergarten Today!

Do you have a child that will be 5 years old by August 31? It's time to sign up for kindergarten! Enroll now, before the office closes for the summer. We want to be ready to welcome your child in the fall. Click on the image above to sign up today!

Students already attending school in Montesano do not need to re-enroll.

Field Day

Our Field Day will be Monday, June 10, 12:00-2:00 p.m. Please see the flyer above for more information.

Beacon Picnic (Students Only)

Beacon students will be eating lunch outside with their class on Wednesday, June 12. Students may bring a towel as a picnic blanket to sit on. Hot lunch will still be available.

Kindergarten Performance

Kindergarten parents are invited to attend an assembly at Beacon Elementary School on Tuesday, June 11 at 9:30 a.m. All visitors must check in at the front office. We hope you will join us!

Our theme for this performance is "Welcome to the Jungle". Students should wear a plain shirt that coordinates with their class' animal/color, and jeans.

Second Grade Tunnel of Appreciation

Second grade parents are welcome to observe our tunnel of appreciation from outside the gate at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 13. Parents may park in queue in the car line and should immediately return to their vehicle at the end of the tunnel of appreciation. Please DO NOT park curbside in the office parking lot, as that is the reserved bus lane.

Real Dawgs READ

We are excited to partner again with the University of Washington and the Real Dawgs Read summer program. If your child would like to participate, visit the link below and download the interactive reading journal they can use to record their reading each day. When the journal is complete, email a photo, scan or pdf of your completed journal to realdawgs@uw.edu. Then fill out their online form so they know where to send your certificate and reward.

i-Ready Summer Learning

Your student can continue to learn this summer with i-Ready. This personalized instruction provides students with lessons based on their individual skill level and needs, so they can learn at a pace that is just right for them. These lessons are fun and interactive to keep your student engaged as they learn. Learning Games for Mathematics allow students to practice math in fun and engaging ways, helping them develop a positive view of math. Link for more information.

Lost and Found Items

There is a huge pile of lost and found clothing! Your child can look for their lost item on the way to lunch. You can also check our lost and found online. A link is available on our website or by clicking here: Beacon Lost & Found.

All remaining unclaimed items will be donated on June 7.

Unexcused Absences

Please make sure to excuse any unexcused absences your child may have before the end of the school year. You may excuse your child's absences by calling the school office, emailing the office at beaconskyward@monteschools.org, or via Skyward Family Access.

WAC 392-401A-018 requires school districts to take daily attendance for all enrolled students participating in remote learning and in-person learning. The school is required to record excused and unexcused absences and report unexcused absences to the state.

A new bill, Engrossed Substitute House Bill (ESHB) 1113 – Concerning School Attendance, was signed into law April 26, 2021. The law has immediate impacts on the truancy process as defined in Chapter 28A.225 RCW. Districts must now file truancy petitions no earlier than 7 unexcused absences in a month and no later than 15 unexcused absences in a year, effective April 26, 2021.

Student Medication

Please make arrangements to pick up your child's medication on the last day of school. All remaining medication will be disposed of on June 14. Our school nurse can be reached at at 360-249-4528.

Annual Update

Parents will be able to see their child's class placement once they complete the annual update for their child in August. Detailed instructions will be emailed to parents in late August.

Information must be updated prior to the first day of school, August 28, 2024.
