Jack Stuart School - February 2025
In Our House - Administrator's Message
By Jack Stuart School Administration

Ms. Erica Easton, Assistant Principal
#Jaguar Pride
We have had some warm and cold weather in the month of January. Thank you for sending your child with the necessary clothing to walk to and from school, and for outside breaks.
Just a quick reminder that student attendance has the greatest impact on student learning and success. Please help us out and ensure your child is regularly attending school. Certainly, if they are ill or have an appointment, they will be marked excusably absent. In any case, a student is responsible to complete the work he/she missed, no matter the reason for the absence (i.e. ill, appointment, trip, etc.).
The 2024/25 Alberta Education Assurance Surveys are on the way to our grade 4 JSS parent/guardians via Canada Post. The 2025 Alberta Education Assurance (AEA) Survey for grade 4 parents/guardians will launch in February 2025. Parents/Guardians of all Alberta grade 4, 7 and 10 students are asked to complete the AEA survey each year. To increase awareness and encourage parental participation in the AEA survey, Alberta Education has prepared a package providing information about the survey, why the survey is needed and how grade 4 parents/guardians will take the survey. This package also provides a Random Access Code (RAC) for accessing the electronic survey online (with instructions and the electronic survey link), and instructions for accessing the survey in other languages. Grade 4 parents/guardians will receive this survey package, mailed directly from Alberta Education. Thanks to our grades 4 parents/guardians in advance for completing the electronic survey. Be sure to click submit at the bottom of the survey. The deadline for completion will be mid-March 2025, just before BRSD spring break. Your feedback is appreciated.
At JSS, we continue to recognize students who say and do the right thing, especially when no one is looking. When our students get “Caught in the Matrix” by taking care of themselves, others and our school, they are presented with Jaguar Cards. Students are excited to submit their jaguar cards to the office Jaguar draw box. Each week two students are randomly selected from the draw box to receive various prizes provided by our local community. 219 JSS students received Jaguar Cards in September, 308 in October, another 154 in November, 182 in December, and recently 242 in January, for a total of 1105 Jaguar Cards so far this school year. We are very proud of all our students and staff living the school pledge each day. Thanks to the local businesses and our entire community for supporting this program. Stay tuned for our December totals and beyond.
Thank you to …

Discover the wonderful world of books with the Scholastic Book Fair. This exciting reading event will take place Feb. 24 - 27.
Each class will be assigned a period to attend during school hours. Parents/Guardians are welcome to attend during the school day to help their child(ren) or to stay and volunteer. See the schedule below to find out when each homeroom will visit. Students will also bring flyers home next week!
We invite all families to join us at our special Family Event on Mon., Feb. 24 - 3:00 - 5:30 pm. Bring your family and enter the draw for a chance to win $25 of free books! We will have a debit machine running through the duration of the fair to make payments quick and convenient.
Check out the JSS Scholastic Book Fair website here.
Hosting a Book Fair would not be possible without the help of parent volunteers. Help is is needed throughout the week for helping students with their purchases during their classroom visits. If you are able to volunteer any time during the week, please email Mrs. Biletski at sbiletski@brsd.ab.ca.

JSS Council & Parents’ Society
February is here! Get ready for a whirlwind month!
On February 3 , our Winter fundraiser will began. Your child should have brought home a menu and order form earlier this week. If you have not received one, please contact jackstuartparentadvisory@gmail.com or call the office. The funds raised from this campaign are intended to be used for chromebooks and other needs next year, but may be put toward the accessible playground and swing set, if we are not able to receive additional grants to cover the cost.
Speaking of the playground project, we are getting closer to being able to put a deposit on a 4 bay swing set. The Camrose Elks have applied for an Alberta Elks grant on our behalf, , and another $15,000 for rubber surface under the swing set. Please check the link below for more information and to contribute to this project. Donations made on the crowdfund page will be matched 50% up to a max of $5,000! Feel free to skip the optional “tip” as our platform fees have been paid.
As always, if you shop at Save-On-Foods, you can ask to donate your receipt to Jack Stuart School when you’re at the till. We receive 5% back. Our Fall check was for $611.
Join us at our next Parent Council meeting, followed immediately by the Parents' Society Meeting on Tues., Mar. 4 at 6 pm via Google Meet. All are welcome.
If you would like to attend meetings but can’t because of the date and time, please reach out and we will try to be more accommodating with the next meeting.
