Chelsea Center Corner
Parents, it is hard to believe, but the course registration process for the 2025-2026 school year will begin for students on December 5. The Chelsea Center offers several courses you might want to review and consider as a family. Whether a student is college-bound or aiming for the workforce after graduation, building a resume that highlights dynamic pursuits to develop strengths is important. Students can spark, sustain, and stretch their interests through the following Chelsea Center courses; look for their full descriptions in the soon-to-be-released course catalog and contact us anytime at sullivan.elyssa@wgmail.org for further information!
Teaching and Learning Cohort (gr. 11-12): Study the art of teaching through seminar style coursework and student teaching experiences in WGSD classrooms. This Grow-Your-Own program aims to invest in future educators with the hope they will join WGSD faculty after college.
Passion Pursuit Experience (gr. 9-12): What lights you up inside? Co-design a process to dive deep into an interest you have, be paired with an expert mentor, and work in a cycle of experiences supported by reflection, analysis, and experimentation.
Internship Experience (gr. 9-12): Explore a potential career through hands-on, project-based learning with a company or nonprofit. We have some community partners ready to host interns now, and can also work to develop new partnerships to align with your professional interests.
Service Learning Experience (gr. 9-12): Create change and be changed: In this service learning class, address human and community needs through hands-on exploration of the many ways local organizations serve as catalysts for change. Next, co-design service projects and experiences that impact both you and your community.
Did You Know?
We ask that you call in advance if you're picking up your child early. Unlike elementary and middle school, we do not call and interrupt class to retrieve your child. To speed up the process of picking up your student, we always recommend calling at least 60 minutes ahead of time to allow for:
- Retrieval of message
- Locating student and delivering pass to student
- Checking student out of their offices
(Please note: Our secretaries generally take 30 minutes for lunch.)
WGHS Attendance Procedures
Call your child's AP office to report an absence, late arrival, or early departure. Checking out early? When leaving school during the day, students must check out through the assistant principal’s office.
Student Early Release:
We require at least one hour notice when calling your student out early. Call the Assistant Principal's office before the designated time and report the absence. You may also send a note with the student to be presented to the Assistant Principal's office before school.
At the designated time, your student will receive a pass to check out if you called ahead. The student will check out in the Assistant Principal's office.
You will NOT enter the building if you have called the absence in and communicated a pick-up location with your child. However, if you choose to pick up your child in the building, you must do so at the main entrance on Selma Avenue. Upon entering the building, check in with the receptionist. Please bring your driver's license if you are checking in. The receptionist will contact the Assistant Principal’s office to send for your student. Please be aware that not calling ahead to schedule an early release can take up to 30 minutes to send for a student.
For attendance, please call 314.963.6400 and listen to the prompts.
ParentSquare
Webster Groves School District uses ParentSquare for school communication, primarily with email, text and app notifications. ParentSquare automatically generates an account for each parent, using their preferred email address and phone number. We encourage parents to access their accounts so they can download the mobile app and update their preferences on when and how they are notified.
Create a Canvas Account to Stay Connected
To stay connected with the learning in our classrooms, please create a Canvas Observer Account which is our district's learning management system. You will find three helpful documents below:
