December 2024
Time Flies
Superstar Families,
I can NOT believe that December is already here! 2024 has flown by! Our Superstars are deep into their learning, applying their new skills across the content areas, and learning to REACH for the STARS in ways that will challenge them, grow them, and prepare them for the learning that awaits them in 2025. One of my favorite moments this month was when I was in a first grade class. I got to hear every student read independently. I remember when they were in kindergarten learning their letters and letter sounds! I'm so proud of the progress every Superstar is making.
As always, I wanted to share some important information and dates.
- November 27 is an early release day. Students will be dismissed at 1:00 for Thanksgiving Break.
- There is no school November 28 - 29 due to Thanksgiving Break.
- Grades 3 - 5 will have their Winter Concert on December 5. More information can be found below.
- Our Book Fair is the week we return from Thanksgiving Break. Information has been sent home and can be found below.
- Students will be released at 1:00 on December 19 for Winter Break. School will resume on January 6, 2025!
We're so thankful for your partnership with us. We do not take it for granted that our partnership is so important. You, as an expert on your Superstar, help make each day a success.

Nurse News
Superstar Families,
We are in the midst of the cold and flue season. If your Superstar is sick with a fever, vomiting, or diarrhea, your student should stay home for 24 hours after the last episode. If your Superstar student is going to stay home, please remember to call the school office and report your child's absence.
Just a reminder to use the holiday time off to schedule vaccines and wellness checks.
Stay well!

Counselor's Corner
Hello Superstar Families!
We’re almost a third of the way through the school year! This month we are choosing to focus on character trait, Respect. Showing respect means thinking about how others want to be treated and treating them in that way. Treating others with respect can help our students learn how to understand others and show kindness to them.
Often we think of respect as the Golden Rule or treating others the way you want to be treated. Although this is true, treating others respectfully requires us to first think about others before ourselves. This is not easy for kids or adults because our thinking must change from ‘me first’ to ‘team first’. This is important to remember because if my team (my classroom, my family, etc.) wins, then I win. When my choices benefit others (through kindness, forgiveness, etc.) it benefits me as well.
As we move into the Holiday season, we hope you will join us in modeling respect and helping our students think of others first this month. We hope you enjoy this fun time of year. J
Wishing you well,
Mr. Thomas, Counselor
Conscious Discipline
Respect is our focus as we head into December! Respect is the foundation of positive relationships and a supportive community. It means treating others the way we want to be treated, valuing different opinions, and showing kindness in our words and actions. At school, being respectful includes listening when someone is speaking, following rules, and appreciating the efforts of others. At home, it might mean using polite language, being considerate of family members’ needs, and setting an example of kindness. When children see and practice respect, they grow into compassionate and understanding individuals. Let’s partner together to nurture respect in our daily lives!
