A Message From the Principal
Greetings Golightly Families,
Happy November to each and every one of you. As we enter this season of gratitude, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the scholars, teachers, parents, paraprofessionals, academic interventionist, office staff, custodians, and lunch staff who contribute to making Golightly Education Center a truly special place each day. Your commitment and dedication truly make a positive difference for our school community.
Congratulations on getting through the first quarter of the 2024-2025 school year. We are off to a tremendous start and I could not be more proud of the work that our scholars and staff has done so far! We are moving forward and increasing academic progress!
No School Tuesday, Nov. 5th. DPSCD District PD. We will Resume Wed., Nov. 6th
Attendance Matters
I hope you are enjoying the beautiful fall colors and exciting weather changes. As the weather turns, we encourage you to layer clothing so that your child is prepared for the changing temperatures outside.
I am often present at arrival/dismissal and have made a few general observations that need an increased focus from all who share the same goal – getting to and from Golightly SAFELY.
- Mind your speed within the parking lot, put cell phones down and be alert at all times.
- Please use the crosswalk to walk scholars to the building, Do NOT allow your scholars to exit cars in the middle of the street. This causes unnecessary congestion and is not safe as cars pull around other cars to exit the school grounds.
- Please keep the drop off/pick up line moving – or pull into a parking spot if needed.
- Please do not exit your vehicle in the circular drive and enter the building. Please park in a parking spot.
Report Cards
We are pleased to inform you that your child's report cards for this term will be accessible through PowerSchool starting Monday, November 4th.
If you encounter any difficulties accessing your child's report card through PowerSchool, please don't hesitate to reach out to our office at 313-870-1101. Our team will be ready to assist you with any technical support you may need.
In the event that you prefer a hard copy of the report card, kindly get in touch with your child's teacher, and they will be happy to provide you with a physical copy.
We appreciate your continued involvement in your child's education, and we look forward to assisting you with any questions or concerns you may have regarding their progress.
