PRINCIPAL'S UPDATE
Dear Eagle Crest Families,
As we head into the final stretch before winter break, I want to take a moment to shine a spotlight on our incredible family volunteers. Your time, energy, and enthusiasm have been the heartbeat of so much of what makes Eagle Crest special. From assisting in classrooms and reading with students to organizing Thursday Folders and beyond, your impact is felt everywhere—and we’re so grateful for you!
This year marks the 4th year of our volunteer training program, and I’m thrilled to share that we’ve trained over 70 volunteers this year alone! These sessions are all about equipping our families with the skills and know-how to make a difference while keeping everyone safe. The feedback has been glowing—families, staff, and students all love having you here, and we’re always excited to welcome more volunteers into the fold.
If you’re ready to jump in or know someone who is, we’ll be hosting more volunteer training sessions in January. Mark your calendars for:
January 10th: 9–9:30 a.m. (in-person, Library)
January 10th: 10:30–11 a.m. (virtual)
January 13th: 6–6:30 p.m. (virtual)
Thank you for being such an important part of our school community. Have a wonderful weekend!
Warmly,
Amanda

DEAN OF STUDENTS' UPDATE
Hello Eagle Crest Families!
As we get ready for Winter Break and reach the halfway point of our school year, we want to take a moment to thank you for helping make Eagle Crest a safe and healthy place for our students to learn and grow. Your care and support in keeping students home when they’re not feeling well has made such a positive difference!
If your child has missed school this year due to illness or travel, we’re here to help them bounce back and stay on track after Winter Break. Did you know that students who miss more than 17 days in a school year (about 10%) are considered “chronically absent”? This can impact their readiness for the next grade level. The visuals below show how important regular attendance is for building critical skills, like being able to read by third grade.
If there’s anything we can do to help your child attend more regularly, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to support you and your family!
All the best,
Lindsey Cheney
Dean of Students
Eagle Crest Elementary
