Amy's Weekly Write-Up

There has been so much frustration and bad news lately, I decided to start this newsletter with some good news......my oldest son, Jake, proposed to his girlfriend this week! We love her and are very excited for them. It feels great to have something positive to focus on.

Sept 14th: Marathon Monday holiday

Sept. 16th: First Day of School for Students

If you do not have a document camera in your classroom and would like one, please let me know.

We are working on negotiating schedules right now. I can share that broadly we are anticipating the bulk of the synchronous work to be scheduled for the mornings for elementary students. Afternoons may involve asynchronous work, independent projects, special education and title one services, small groups and individual sessions, office hours, and/or electives. Once all the necessary components are negotiated, I will share master schedules with you.

As far as para assignments go, my tentative plan is:

PK: Heidi Patenaude

K: Genie Shearer

1st: Alice Lemelin

2nd: Lisa Burton

3rd through 5th: Dave Nelson and Robin Tower

6th: Sharon Wickland Shearer

I realize this is not how we normally schedule paras and it's going to take some creativity and brainstorming. I envision paras being available for some small breakout groups, individual or small group sessions with students, etc. More to come.

Even though we are starting the year in a remote model, there are some students that fall into a high needs category for whom we will need to provide in person learning. We are currently working on putting that together. I do not yet know if that will mean students will be educated in their home schools or if we will need to do something centrally located for students across the district.

Similarly, we will need to be establishing remote hubs for those students who are unable to access the internet. We know that that is many of our students. We are working on going home by home, assessing what the issue is, and seeing if we are able to problem-solve a solution. If not, we will have to be finding a space for them to work.
