Dear Jerry Ross Families,

Welcome back to another exciting school year at Jerry Ross Elementary! We are thrilled to have our Jerry Ross Rockets back in our classrooms, ready for new adventures as we learn and grow together.

Our amazing teachers and staff have been working hard preparing for the new year ahead. We are committed to providing a supportive, engaging, and challenging learning environment for all of our students. Whether you are a returning family or joining us for the first time, we are here to support your child’s educational journey every step of the way.

We enjoyed seeing lots of our Jerry Ross families at our popsicles event last night. We look forward to welcoming families to our Open House on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 (please see details below). Open House is an opportunity for students to meet their teachers and for parents to learn classroom-specific information. It also helps students feel more comfortable and confident going into the first day of school. For this reason, we ask that parents follow our drop off/arrival procedures on the first day of school and refrain from walking students into the building. Our “littles” (K-2) and new students have support from our 5th grade student patrollers if they need assistance finding their classrooms.

As we begin the new school year, we thank our dedicated parents, teachers, and staff members who make Jerry Ross such a special place to learn. We believe in strong home-school communication and collaboration and look forward to partnering with you. Thank you for your continued support and involvement as we kick off a fantastic 2024-25 school year!

Supplies for elementary students are included in their annual registration/textbook fees. However, CPCSC elementary schools request that each student has the following:

• Backpack (no wheels, please)
• Pencil case
• Chromebook case cover (strongly recommended; chromebook dimensions are 12x9 inches)
• Headphones or earbuds
• Reusable water bottle

Dismissal and arrival procedures are carefully put into practice to maintain the safety of students and staff. Please read the signs posted outside and follow the procedures for everyone’s safety.

ARRIVAL: Doors will open at 8:50 am. Students who arrive in a car will proceed through the car rider line on the north side of the building and ending in the circle drive in the back of the school.. Bus riders arrive through the main entrance.

DISMISSAL: All students exit the building to load onto the bus OR be picked up in a car. Children are not picked up inside the building. Students who are car riders will gather in the gym once their name appears on the TouchScreen and begin dismissing around 3:35 p.m. All cars should have the child’s full name visible in the front dash/visor of the car using the provided name plate. Parents/guardians of car riders should enter the north lot at the end of the school day and follow the direction of staff members.

All dismissal changes must be communicated to the office prior to 3:00 p.m.

If you would like to earn a little extra money but still be home in the morning, nights, weekends, and holiday breaks, please consider working in our cafeterias and kitchens.

It’s a very rewarding experience and you will be connected to our schools.
