CMS Toppers: News From the Middle!

Topper Up!
Hello Topper families!
At CMS we are now at the point of the year where we are still laser-focused on finishing this school year strong, but also have part of our attention on what next year will look like for our incoming 4th through 7th grade students. Below you will see details about scheduling of electives. I also shared a letter with all families this week regarding our Level Up Math Program. It is also included in this newsletter.
As we continue to focus on student outcomes, our teams are consistently adjusting plans within our Professional Learning Community meetings that happen multiple times per week so that students can do well on the upcoming state assessments, but more importantly, feel confident in their abilities as a learner.
Continue to enjoy the sunshine when it pops out and here's looking forward to warmer temps this week.
Keep smiling,
Craig Caroff

Balancing Technology with Student Wellness - Presentation and Video
Recently, Chardon Local Schools partnered with the ESCNEO, Ohio Guidestone, Geauga County Sheriff's Office, and Geauga County JFS to present on the topic of online safety, impact of technology on brain development and function, and how to set boundaries, have conversations, and limits to technology in family homes. In case you were unable to attend, the presentation, including resources, is linked HERE. The upcoming book study is for any caretaker who would like to discuss HOW to implement these boundaries, and talk about raising children in this digital age. Please reach out to Joan Blackburn at the high school or Kate Collins at the middle school with any questions.

NEW Message from Ms. Jenn in the CMS Clinic
Hello Parents
We are still seeing Flu, Strep, pinkeye and hand, foot and mouth in the school
Please review good hand washing with your kids
Please review proper cough etiquette with them as well
The custodial staff did a Clorox360 in all rooms last weekend.. THANK YOU
Kids have to be fever-free for 24 hours and have no use of Tylenol or Motrin the 24 hours prior to returning to school.
If your child is ill please keep them at home. If they do come to school I will assess them,do an intervention, and follow the school health guidelines before calling you.
6th-grade parents, please remember the 7th-grade vaccines are due in August.
They are due 1 week after school starts. The 2 that are needed are tetanus and meningitis. I often look at the State vaccine website, but not all providers are affiliated with it. You can always get a printout at the appointment and have your child bring it to me. If you need an exemption form, feel free to call me. If you need the vaccines, I have reached out by way of email already to you.
Please continue to call the office or me with anything that is considered contagious.
We are almost to Spring.
Thank you
Jennifer Trittschuh RN BSN LSN
