Monday Updates
Nixon Walkathon Update:
WOW! This is the only word to describe the amazing-ness that is our Bobcat Community. Learners raised over $8000 for our Nixon PTA by asking for donations for our annual Walkathon. On Friday we celebrated with a schoolwide assembly where 12 learners had the chance to pie a teacher for raising over $200 dollars each. Did you miss the live stream of the event? You can check it out by clicking on this link: https://fb.watch/rgpF8-6TKn/
If you forgot your envelope, it's not too late! Turn those in early next week to make sure your donations get to our PTA. Prizes will be delivered in a few weeks for those who turned in donations. A special shout-out to Mr. Turner for helping set up and distribute the pies, and Mr. Goebel for streaming the event so folks at home can watch. Way to go Bobcats!!!!
ISASP: 2 More Days of Testing:
Our first two days of testing went incredibly well. Learners worked hard, spent focused time, and tried their best on the reading and language/writing tests. This week, we have 2 more days of ISASP testing. Please check out the flyer below for tips on how you can help your child in 3rd-5th grade be prepared for the assessments.
April 8: Science (5th grade only)
April 9-10: Make Ups
April 11: Math
April 12: Make Ups
Conditions for Learning Survey:
Our school is getting ready to administer an annual school climate and culture survey called Conditions for Learning to students in grades 3-5. This survey administration is required by the state's plan to meet a federal law called the Every Student Succeeds Act. Our school will conduct the survey between April 1-30. All Iowa public school districts will use the Conditions for Learning Survey to improve safety, student engagement, and the overall learning environment so that all Iowa students have optimum conditions for learning. Our work to improve safety, student engagement and overall learning environment will have a lasting impact on the future.
The survey is confidential and will focus on issues ranging from student safety, to positive student relationships, to school rules and how they are enforced. A high rate of participation by students in completing the Conditions for Learning Survey is important for obtaining the most complete school climate data for our school. Support from you in communicating to your students that this is their chance to be heard and to be part of the effort to improve conditions for learning at our school is critical.
A letter, along with a refusal form, were sent home last week Friday to all 3rd-5th grade families. If you prefer your child to not participate in this survey, you will need to complete the written refusal form and send it back to school. If you would like to see what questions are asked on the survey, you may click on the link below for more information. Please reach out if you have any questions.

Field Trip Season is Here!
As the temperature starts to increase, so does our number of school related field trips! In the upcoming weeks you'll receive more information from your child's homeroom teacher(s) about upcoming trips. Please be sure you have completed your Parent Permissions in Infinite Campus so your child can join us for the fun we have planned. If you aren't sure you've completed your permissions, please reach out to Ms. Tracy in the office to find out (319) 558-2188.
