SIMPSON NEWS
Simpson Elementary School: October 2024 Edition
October is National School Principals’ Month!
Thank you, Mr. Cady, for all you do for the staff, students, and community of Montesano!
Bulldogs of the Month
Each month, Simpson students focus on developing specific character traits. Students learn what it looks like to exhibit these traits and are recognized for demonstrating them inside and outside of the classroom. September's character trait was "positivity." Congratulations to September's Bulldogs of the Month: Karson O., Logan N., Audrey E., Adison C., McKenna L., Nora R., Adelynn M., Scarlett Z., Zayleigh O., Melanie C., Avery J., Rosaly C., Alexis A., Tyson J., Aynslee M., Ryan S., and Emily W.
Students will focus on "respect" as the character trait for the month of October.

Attendance Reporting
If your child is absent, please excuse the absence in one of the following ways:
- Report the absence online via Skyward Family Access;
- Email the school office;
- Call the school office at 360-249-4331.
All absences should be excused within 24 hours. Acceptable excuses for student absences include: illness, medical/dental appointments, family emergency, bereavement, and religious occasions. Other reasons may be excused at the discretion of the school principal.
There is more emphasis by Grays Harbor County Juvenile Court to focus on truancy petitions for younger school age children than in previous years. If your child is struggling to come to school on a regular basis, please reach out to the school office or your child's teacher so we can work together to improve attendance.
November Conferences
Parent/teacher conferences will take place November 5, 6, 7, and 8. There will be early release on these days to allow for conference appointments. These meetings will be an opportunity to discuss your child's progress with his/her teacher. More information will be sent home soon.
