No School on Monday, November 11: Veterans Day
A Message From Mrs. O'Shaughnessy
I hope everyone is enjoying their extended weekend. Today we celebrate Veterans Day. Every year on November 11, people in the United States celebrate Veterans Day. The holiday honors veterans, or people who served in the U.S. military. I had the honor of attending a special ceremony yesterday for my friend, who is a veteran of the US Navy. I would like to thank all of our community who are veterans for their service.
This week is Election Week at PS 88Q! Such excitement. Our halls are adorned with campaign posters, and we are preparing for our live speeches! Our entire school community will head to the polls. This year, our Student Council will be participating in many school based opportunities as well as community based.
This week is also our Scholastic Book Fair. Students will be visiting during the day, but we also have evening hours. Come by Wednesday evening from 4:00pm to 7:00! See you then!
Have a great week!

November 12, 2024
Hello Families!
The Social Justice Committee, in partnership with the PTA, has organized a school-wide initiative in honor of Native American Heritage during the month of November.
On Tuesday, November 19th, join us for our Breaking Bread, Building Bonds family event at 5 pm. It will be a time to get to know one another and partake in something that all families share.
We are looking for families to share bread and/or butter from their cultures. Please return the tear-off to let us know we can count on you!

PTA News
The Scholastic Book Fair is 11/12-11/15!
Thank you SO much to the volunteers that worked all day long on Friday to get Room 111 transformed into our Book Fair! We're so excited for everyone to see it this week.
The Family Shopping Evening is Wednesday 11/13 from 4pm-7pm.
eWALLET
We strongly recommend using an eWallet instead of cash!
It's so easy to set up, so much easier than teachers and kids juggling envelopes of cash, and so much faster to check out. There will even be a separate register accepting eWallet Only this year!
Head to our Book Fair homepage to set one up:

SHARE THE FAIR
We are happy to be participating in Share the Fair! This fund helps all PS88 kids go home with a book when they otherwise might not be able to. Anyone can donate to Share the Fair in TWO ways: online at check out when creating an eWallet -OR- in person at the register by making a custom donation or by simply "rounding up".

The Next PTA General Membership Meeting
Our next meeting will be Tuesday, November 19 from 6pm-7pm in the Auditorium and on Zoom. As always, our awesome teachers and aides will have a great activity for the kids during the meeting!
The Social Justice Committee's Breaking Bread event will segue directly into our meeting. Breaking Bread is a wonderful event and we are so thrilled to partner with the SJC again this year!
Informal PTA Parent Needs Survey: bit.ly/ParentNeeds202425
Our survey will remain open throughout the year. This is an anonymous place to directly express any concerns, needs, wishes, etc. without worry.
We will share any feedback we receive before 11/18 with the SLT to include in their formal survey to the school.
Remember: YOU are the PTA!
Every parent of a PS88 child is a voting member of the PTA.
Make your voice heard!
