Valentines Day
All art students from quarter and quintant 2 were busy carving and printing valentines for the entire EMS community. That's a lot of valentines! Some of these Valentines are GOLDEN VALENTINES....meaning some of them have a golden heart glued to the back.
Students and staff can take these GOLDEN VALENTINES to the office on Valentines' day, and trade them in for a Valentine treat. It's getting a little Willie Wonka-ish around here but who couldn't use more love - or chocolate?

Reminder: NAEP Testing for EMS 8th Graders on March 8th
EMS 8th graders will participate in the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) on March 8th. NAEP is the largest nationally representative and continuing assessment of what students know and can do in various subjects. NAEP is different from our state assessments because it is a common measure of achievement across the country. The assessment is administered by the National Center for Education Statistics, within the U.S. DOE. The results are released as The Nation’s Report Card, which provides information about student achievement to educators, parents, policymakers, and the public.
8th Graders may take a mathematics or reading assessment. In addition to subject-area questions, students voluntarily complete NAEP survey questions. These questions provide valuable information about participating students’ educational experiences and opportunities to learn both in and outside of the classroom. More information about NAEP survey questions is available at https://nces.ed.gov/nationsreportcard/parents under the section “What Questions Are on the Test?”
The assessment takes approximately 2 hours for most students, which includes transition time, directions, and completion of survey questions.
The EMS Music Department invites you to our virtual Winter Concert Thursday, February 17, 2022 at 6:30pm.
We are excited to present the excellent work of our student musicians from our band, chorus and orchestra ensembles. They are making tremendous progress this year! Following the current guidance around Covid, and out of an abundance of caution regarding the safety of our students and community, we will present our performances virtually via a google meet on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at 6:30pm.
Students have recorded their performances, to be compiled into a virtual concert performance. Though we are all looking forward to performing for our families in a live and in-person setting, we are excited to provide a culminating performance experience in the safest manner possible at this time.
We are very much enjoying making music with our students and can’t wait to share all we have been learning!
