A Message from Ms. Cruz
Welcome to Week 27!
As report cards are being sent home later this week, I want to take a moment to emphasize the importance of discussing these reports with your student. Report cards not only provide insight into academic performance but also offer an opportunity to reflect on progress, identify strengths, and set goals for continued growth.
When you review your student's report card together, it can be helpful to celebrate their achievements, no matter how big or small, and to encourage them to keep striving for improvement. Use this as a time to discuss areas where they may need extra support, and work together to develop a plan for success moving forward. Engaging in these conversations fosters a growth mindset and helps children understand that learning is a journey.
We recognize that every student learns in their own way, and we are here to support both you and your student in every step of that journey. If you have any questions about your student's report card or would like more specific information about their progress, please don’t hesitate to reach out to their teacher. Our team is always available to provide insight and guidance on how you can further support your student's academic success.
Thank you for your continued partnership in nurturing your student's education. Together, we can help them reach their full potential!
Have a great week, Davis Tigers! Go to Davis, Go to College!
Our Tiger Tenets :

Annual State Testing
Every year, California students take several statewide tests. When combined with other measures such as grades, class work, and teacher observations, these tests give families and teachers a more complete picture of their child’s learning. You can use the results to identify where your child is doing well and where they might need more support. Your child may be taking one or more of the following:
- California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP)
- English Language Proficiency Assessments for California (ELPAC)
- Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
To see the full information on the above assessments, please visit our Assessment, Research, and Evaluation (ARE) Department website. Please select the Annual Notification of Testing, 2024-2025 link.
Chromebooks
Chromebooks are essential tools for learning in the classroom, used for various applications and tasks. To ensure students have access to the necessary resources, it is expected that students bring their fully charged Chromebooks to school each day. Please note that there is a limited number of loaner devices available. If your student has lost or damaged their Chromebook, please notify their teacher as soon as possible so that the device can be repaired or replaced.
More information about Chromebooks and the Chromebook Care Plan can be found by clicking here.
Volunteering
Adults interested in volunteering in their student's classroom or chaperoning a field trip will need to complete the Volunteer Request Form and be fingerprinted. Please connect with your student's teacher to determine volunteer opportunities. We are currently seeking volunteers to support in supervision of students during lunch between 10:30 am - 1:00 pm. If you are available, please contact the office or scan the QR code.
Morning Dropoff
Please remember that the front gate does not open until 7:40 am as there is no supervision for students prior to this time. It is important that students come to school dressed appropriately, including wearing school-appropriate shoes. If your student comes to school in Crocs or sandals, they will be asked to sit out PE and may not go in the barkbox or onto the fields during recess due to safety concerns.
Students who wish to eat breakfast in the cafeteria should arrive no later than 7:45 am. For students arriving by bus, please proceed immediately to the cafeteria. The cafeteria will be cleared out 15 minutes after the latest bus arrives to ensure that students do not miss instructional time.
Lunch Options For The Week
Picking Students Up
Please remember that if your student has not yet been dismissed and you are in the loading zone, staff will be asking you to park or loop around to allow other parents to load their students who are waiting. We also ask that you model safe behaviors and use the crosswalk. Our Tigers know this is a Tiger Tenet and a way to be safe!
We thank you for your patience and for working with our staff to ensure dismissal occurs smoothly.
Have You Reported Your Students' Absence?
If your student will be out, be sure to call the office at 209-953-8301 to report your their absence. Students who have a medical or dental appointment will need to bring a note from their doctor upon their return.
Additionally, it is important your student arrives on time, ready to learn. School starts at 8:00 am and students are expected to be in their classes at this time.
