Texas Educational Theatre Assoc.
April 2020 - Volume 1 - Issue 2
From The President - Missey Head
On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to share our immense appreciation and respect for your continued service and encouragement during this difficult time. Words alone cannot adequately convey the critical role teachers play in the lives our students and our world. None of us would be who we are or where if it were not for the teachers who taught us, and shaped us. During these moments of uncertainty, your brilliance is shining through your innovative lessons, dedication and love for students. You are our heroes and our champions.
The Board of Directors will continue our work to strengthen support, increase outreach, and expand horizons to provide a stronger platform geared for supporting your needs.
Thank you for Shining Your Light on the hopes and dreams of the future.

As educators, we are constantly seeking ways to expand our teaching methods and rejuvenate our classrooms. Learning from experts in our fields is a key aspect of this, and for K-12 Theatre Arts educators, the experts in our field are….K-12 Theatre Arts educators! No one knows the classroom better than those who are in it day after day, and every teacher has something they can offer.
This year, we are seeking to make the programming offerings at TheatreFest even more valuable to our K-12 members. In order to do that, we need you! As you look toward how you can be involved in TheatreFest 2020, here are a couple of options:
--Workshop Sessions: a one hour and fifteen minute session covering a variety of topics such as acting, directing, choreography, classroom instruction, technical theatre, arts advocacy, and more! Double sessions are also available.
--Walk-Up Workshop Sessions: 10 to 12-minute sessions presented 5 times (in a one hour and fifteen minute session) covering either a lesson plan geared toward the K-12 classroom or a technical theatre demonstration (i.e. mask making, scenic painting, prop/costume creation, etc). This is an excellent opportunity to try your hand at presenting without committing to a full session!
The deadline for workshop proposals is May 15. Please consider submitting to present...this is an excellent opportunity for you to “Shine Your Light!”
To submit a workshop for consideration, please use one (or both) of the following links:
