A Weekly Update from Perkiomen Valley Middle School East
A Word From Dr. Clune
Dear PV East Parents and Guardians,
I hope that everyone is enjoying their Memorial Day Weekend. While it is a fun and relaxing kickoff to summer; it is also an important time to remember all of those Americans who gave their lives defending our nation. As a school community we honor all of those brave Americans.
Our Spring Orchestra Concert was Excellent! Thank you to Ms. Valerie Smith-Gonzalez and our very talented student musicians. There are 65 students who participate in Orchestra. Wow!
One of our 8th Graders designed socks that were created by the company APTHCRY (https://www.apthcry.com/).The design was inspired by Harriet Tubman. A portion of the proceeds go to the Southern Poverty Law Center. You can help support this real world collaboration and a great cause by buying these socks! Let's sell them out.

We are over the moon excited to announce that PVMS East has been selected by NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration and U.S. Forest Service to receive an Artemis Moon Tree ! Our Moon Tree planting is scheduled for Saturday, June 1st at 3:20PM behind PV East at Leanpe Arboretum. Please join us and be part of our space legacy.
This is the last call. We are planning to break ground soon on a Dedication Garden so now is the time to purchase a brick or become sponsor. Consider honoring a person or event in this beautiful garden. It will provide a wonderful pathway and sitting area through a butterfly garden. The entire garden was designed by master gardeners at Penn State Extension. If you are interested in having a personalized brick, please use this link: https://4everbricks.com/donors/PVMSE/
Sincerely,
Seamus Clune, Ph.D.

7th Annual Art & Foodtruck Festival
The Perkiomen Valley School District Art Department is proud to host its 7th annual Art & Food Truck Festival on Saturday, June 1st from 11 - 3 pm at PV High School. The festival was established to create awareness for our students and community members of the numerous careers in the art fields. Our mission is to encourage students to pursue their aspirations in the arts while also supporting local artists.
In addition to the Art and Food Trucks, we pride ourselves in promoting our local businesses, large and small. I am reaching out to see if anyone in the West Community has a local business or connection to a company that might be interested in donating items for our raffle. The donation could include a company themed basket, gift card, coupons or even an offered service. All proceeds of the event raffle will benefit our PV art students in grades K-12 through PVAB, the Perkiomen Valley Art Booster Club! Check out our booster club at www.pvab.org!
If you are interested in supporting our event, please contact Christina Bolc, AFTF Raffle Basket Coordinator at Raffles@pvartfest.com to coordinate your donation. All donations are due by Friday, May 17th, 2024.
Thank you in advance for supporting the Perkiomen Valley Art Department!

Amazon Wishlist for PBIS
Parents, we need your help! Your students have been working hard to show ROCK behavior and it is time for them to be rewarded. Students have been earning ROCK tickets throughout the first marking period and it is time for them to start cashing them in for prizes, but we need your help. Please consider purchasing an item or two from our PVMS East ROCK Shop Amazon Wishlist. Purchases will be sent to East and delivered to the ROCK shop where your students can purchase them with their hard-earned tickets. Here is the link to the list:
https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/23T8340T72HK3?ref_=wl_share
We can also use Amazon gift cards, gift cards to local restaurants and stores, as well as any Philadelphia sports fan gear you would like to donate. We love our community and appreciate your support of our students and school.

Be A Part Of The Conversation - Upcoming Programs
Be a Part of the Conversation equips families and communities in Pennsylvania with skills and resources to understand substance use, addiction, and related health issues. We provide community programs, foster supportive connections, highlight lived experiences, and challenge stigma.
We are a collaboration of community leaders, clinicians, students, school district representatives, and families who believe that having meaningful, inclusive conversations about substance use and addiction will support individuals and their families in their efforts to develop healthy coping skills and access support whenever there is a need. Learn more about us. See the link below for a number of programs that Be a Part of the Conversation offers.
National Suicide Prevention Lifeline
Did you know that the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is now known as the 988 Suicide & Crisit Lifeline?
When people call, text, or chat 988, they will be connected to trained counselors that are part of the existing Lifeline network. These trained counselors will listen, understand how their problems are affecting them, provide support, and connect them to resources if necessary.
https://988lifeline.org/current-events/the-lifeline-and-988/
The previous Lifeline phone number (1-800-273-8255) will always remain available to people in emotional distress or suicidal crisis.
