Here are some ways you can help:
1) Place an Ad in the Program Book.
2) Attend a performance at Academy at Palumbo | April 3 at 5:30 p.m. or April 4 at 12 p.m. & 5:30 p.m. (tickets sold at the door)
3) Spread the word among your friends, family, neighbors, and local businesses to ask them to advertise in the Program Book and/or attend a performance.

Advertising in the Annie Program Book
Who can advertise? Businesses, family members, neighbors, and supporters.
What are the advertisement options?
- Business Card - $25
- 1/4 page - $50
- 1/2 page (5.5" x 4.25") - $100
- Full page (5.5" x 8.5") - $200
How can I advertise and what is the deadline?
Purchasing an advertisement in the Annie Program Book goes a long way to show support for our school's drama and music departments, our student performers, and staff.
- To place an Ad in the Program Book, completing the Advertisement Form is required. (A printable hard copy of the form is available here to help with any outreach.)
- Upon receipt of the form, Palumbo's Home and School Association will contact individuals/businesses for their artwork.
- Ads will appear in black and white in the Program Book.
- Deadline: Advertisements must be received and paid for by March 24.
*GOOD NEWS
- Palumbo Advanced Theater students performed two original plays at the Wilma Theater, in response to the Wilma's last show, "Half-God of Rainfall." We created our pieces in our residency with award-winning artists, Anthony Martinez-Briggs and Ronnie Lee. We received glowing praise from many professionals at the Wilma, as well as from students from CAPA who were also performing.
- The Palumbo Science Olympiad Team placed 9th at PA Southeast Regional, qualifying for the PA State Championship Tournament for the first time in school history! The State Tournament will take place on Saturday, April 26th at Penn State Altoona.
- Eleven students in the Investment Club participated in a Teen Investment Summit hosted by Philadelphia Financial Scholars. Students heard from a Keynote speaker, Jacky Petit-Homme, who is a Founding Partner at Liberty One Wealth, participated in Breakout Session Workshops on Investing 101, The Power of Compounding, News and Current Events and how they affect the economy, and Socially Responsible Investing. Finally, students were assigned volunteers from various financial and investment companies to help them begin participating in a Stock Market Challenge against 120 students from other Philadelphia high schools. They were able to discuss various investment options, such as stocks, bonds, ETFs, Crypto, etc.

Applications for Student Board Representative are Now Open!
The Board of Education is looking for Student Board Representatives for the 2025-2026 school year — and we need your help to spread the word! Please encourage your student leaders or activists to submit their applications by April 25, 2025. The Philadelphia Board of Education would like to invite all who are interested to apply!
Student Board Representatives serve as leaders for their peers and commit themselves to ensuring that students across Philadelphia have a seat at the table and a voice in the decision-making process.
To qualify as a Student Board Representative or Alternate, students must:
Be a current resident of Philadelphia and attend a Philadelphia district or charter school;
Currently, be in the 9th or 10th grade (students must be in 10th or 11th grade during their term as a Student Board Representative);
Have a minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher and be in good standing;
Be actively involved in their school community and willing to work to support Philadelphia’s public schools, on behalf of their peers, on a regular basis; and
Be willing to represent their peers at Board of Education meetings, communicate student opinions to the Board, and report Board deliberations and actions to the student body.
Student Board Representatives are expected to participate in the following activities throughout their term:
Advise the Board of Education on matters in the best interest of all students in Philadelphia, including the development and revision of Board policies;
Serve on the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council and the Board of
Education;Serve as leaders that represent the student voice for all Philadelphia public schools (district and charter);
Make every effort to attend and participate in all public meetings of the Board of Education held outside of their school day;
Receive orientation, training, and support from the Office of the Board of Education in relation to fulfilling their role on the Board; and
Participate in weekly student board representative check-ins.

The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) Greater Philadelphia Chapter is proud to support the next generation of innovators, trailblazers, and leaders in STEM. Logan Matthew Israel Memorial Scholarship - Application Deadline - May 9, 2025
This scholarship has been established in memory of Academy at Palumbo student Logan Matthew Israel, who died in November 2022 and would have been graduating this year.
Who is eligible to apply?
This scholarship is open to Academy at Palumbo Seniors (Class of 2026), who are interested in pursuing a career in healthcare (mental health, therapy, nursing, psychiatry, medicine, etc.)
Two seniors will be selected to receive scholarships.
A 400–600-word essay is required.
SYOP Application Now Open
Imagine your students completing high school with a diploma and up to 27 transferable college credits, or multiple industry certifications to jump-start your college and career goals! This is what SDP’s Senior Year Only Programs (SYOP) are all about and the application is NOW OPEN until April 4th!
The Senior Year Only Program seeks to prepare high school seniors for both college and career by connecting classroom learning with real-world applications in the workplace.
Students enrolled in SYOP either take classes on a college campus or spend time at the Fox Chase Farm (where they'd earn industry certifications in urban agriculture).
The Senior Year Only Program is a full school year commitment.
Breakfast and lunch are provided.
All students will receive a SEPTA fare card for travel to and from the program. Additional information about transportation will be communicated to families after enrollment is confirmed.

- Summer Dual Enrollment Info Sessions: OSPR will host a Summer Dual Enrollment Information Sessions for students and families on Wednesday, 3/26 at 6:00 pm. Please have folks register HERE. If you were unable to attend the counselor-facing info session on Thursday, you can find information on summer opportunities HERE.
- SYOP Presentation: The SYOP application is due in two weeks, on April 4th! If you are interested in the team presenting to students (either in person or virtually), please reach out. The presentation is HERE.
- HBCU College Prep Initiative "Explore the Legacy" Sessions: Join the HBCU College Prep Initiative for 3 upcoming sessions–4/1: Divine 9 Sororities and Fraternities, 4/23: Arts and Entertainment, and 5/28: Student Athletes. All sessions take place via Zoom at 7:30 pm, and students can register HERE. Flyer is attached.
- 14th Ward RCO Scholarship Fund Application: Five $1000 Scholarships awarded to graduating seniors, preferable students living within the 14th Ward (The East side of Broad Street to the West Side of 6th Street on the North Side of Spring Garden to the South Side of Master Street). Students must have a 3.0 GPA. Applications are due on 4/25 and can be found HERE.

Paid Summer Opportunity for Juniors and Seniors
Philadelphia Financial Scholars has opened the application for our Summer Experienceship Program for high school students in the Class of 2025 and Class of 2026. n addition to gaining valuable career and workforce development experience, students will be paid ~$1,000 ($22/hr.)!
Please watch our 2.5 minute Experienceship Overview Video where students and corporate host sites reflect on their experience during the summer of 2024. I have also attached educator and student-facing flyers for you to share with students and staff.

ProFESS Program for Future Environmental Scientists and Stewards
Land Health is now recruiting high school students for our ProFESS Program this summer! STUDENTS CAN APPLY THROUGH THIS LINK. Applications are due March 30th and must include a letter of recommendation.
Our Program for Future Environmental Scientists and Stewards (ProFESS) is a free, 8-week summer program that seeks to empower high school students (8th-12th) to become future environmental scientists and stewards through hands-on, immersive environmental education.
This year, students can earn up to $400 for program participation, depending upon their overall attendance and participation. Our program is scheduled to begin June 23rd and to end August 15th. ProFESSers should anticipate committing up to 8 hrs/week (2-3 days) to ProFESS, including occasional Saturdays. We would love the opportunity to mentor your students about the natural world and to inspire them to do more good in preserving our Philly green spaces!

LINDSEY VONN FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP
The Lindsey Vonn Foundation Scholarships provide vital financial support for girls aged 10-18 to pursue their passions, whether in academics, sports, or personal enrichment.
The program is specifically designed for girls from underserved communities and offers up to $5,000 per scholarship. It’s not just about financial assistance—it’s about helping young women build confidence, overcome obstacles, and achieve their goals.
There are two types of scholarships:
- Enrichment Scholarships: For academic and enrichment activities like summer programs, music lessons, or other skill-building opportunities.
- Sport Scholarships: For young athletes to improve their skills and grow in their sport.
Applications are reviewed twice a year, and the upcoming deadline is March 31, 2025, at 5:00 PM EST.
URQUHART MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
The scholarship application process is open for the Urquhart Memorial Foundation. For the past 22 years the Urquhart Memorial Foundation (UMF) has given over 1.5 million dollars to eligible students in the city of Philadelphia, who will be attending colleges or universities in the state of Pennsylvania.

With the portal, you are able to view grades, track test scores, see attendance, view immunization records, set communication preferences, and access report cards.

REQUEST FOR EXCUSED ABSENCE FORM
You may use this electronic form to submit an excuse for your child's absence from school within three days of the absence. A doctors note must be provided after three consecutive days of absence. After 9 parental excuses, a doctors note will be required. Be sure to complete each section below to ensure the excuse is accepted. Written notes are also accepted in the main office. All request are subject to administrative approval.
