FROM THE DESK OF MR. FRAY
Hello Bobcat Families -
What a great start to the new school year! Our orientation activities, open house and first days of school have all been filled with positive energy. It is truly an amazing thing to see 2500+ teenagers and 150+ staff all return and mesh together in such a short time frame. While it is never seamless and we have some unpredictable situations come up, I can see this being our best year yet. Thank you for all of your continued support and encouragement as your students benefit from these efforts. As we move through the month of September, I ask that every family establish routines that make school a priority. Working together we will find great success!
Go Bobcats!

THANK YOU TO THE ECHO’S 2024 SPONSORS
The Echo staff would like to thank all of the 2024 yearbook sponsors. Because the Echo is completely self-funded, each year, the staff must raise more than $100,000 to print the yearbook. While book sales make up the majority of the printing budget, sponsorships allow the staff to purchase equipment and supplies from camera equipment to toner cartridges for our printers, as well as providing scholarships for editors to attend workshops. Soon, members of the yearbook staff will begin seeking sponsorships for the 2025 Echo. We hope we can count on your support once again.
Youth In Government
Youth in Government is a GBHS Club where students learn about how government works and then participate in a four day simulation at the Capitol Building in Lansing, MI.
First meeting is Thursday, September 12.

Attendance Contract Explanation
Parents - Please be aware that our attendance contract procedure:
- When a student has accumulated more than 10 absences in a class, they will be notified by the classroom teacher and given an attendance contract.
- The student and teacher both sign the contract and it is returned to the office. The student is given a copy to take home with them.
- The attendance contract explains what the student must do in order to earn credit in that particular class.
- If your student then accumulates 10 or more absences in a different course hour, this will result in further - separate attendance contracts.
Follow THIS LINK to preview an attendance contract and review the full explanation of requirements in order to receive class credit.
REMINDER - PROCEDURE FOR CHECKING IN/OUT DURING SCHOOL HOURS
Students and Parents - Please make sure you are following the proper procedures for students leaving the building during school hours:
- Parent/Guardian must call in first to check the student out.
- The student then checks in with the office to get an exit pass prior to leaving.
Students have been leaving the building during the day and parents are calling in at a later time to excuse the absence. If an emergency were to take place in the building, we must be able to account for every student currently believed to be present. For those safety reasons, we will NOT retroactively excuse the attendance of any student that leaves the building without following the proper procedure.
