DEBATE RESULTS
On November 23, the debate team competed at a tournament hosted by Mounds Park Academy. Congratulations to juniors Kena Abdissa and Asmaa Hamimoune, who finished with a 4-0 record and placed 1st out of 54 teams in their division.
On November 23-24, junior Boyana Nikolova competed at the Glenbrooks Speech and Debate Tournament in Illinois. This is the most competitive invitational tournament in the country. Boyana received 13th place out of 101 entries in extemporaneous speaking, the highest of all students from Minnesota in this event.
VOICE OF DEMOCRACY WINNER
Irondale High School is proud to announce that Lucia Blechert (11th Grade) has won First Place in the VFW Post 724 Voice of Democracy competition this year. The Voice of Democracy competition is a written and spoken essay contest hosted annually by the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars). This year's prompt was "Is America Today Our Forefathers' Vision?" For first place, Lucia receives $150 and the chance to move on to the regional competition. Congratulations, Lucia!
IRONDALE'S ANNUAL WEEK OF GIVING
A fun, all-school class competition hosted by DECA-Period 3, Monday-Friday of next week (December 9-13), where the winning class each day receives a donated lunch by a local business sponsor. All proceeds collected will benefit our Irondale Pantry - a free resource for families in need at Irondale. Donations can include any new items such as: coats, clothing, toys, teen gifts, gift cards, cash or checks, snacks, non-perishable food items, and toiletries. Please note, checks should be made to Irondale High School.
WINTER WEATHER REMINDERS
As we move into the winter months, here are five things to know about potential snow days. The decision to close schools is a difficult one to make, and we realize that it significantly impacts all of our families. To learn more about the criteria for school closures, visit mvps.me/weather.
ATTENTION ALL SENIORS: EQUITY PROMISE SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
The Mounds View Equity Promise Scholarship application is NOW OPEN! This is the only LOCAL scholarship program open to ALL seniors, so every senior at Irondale should apply! You can find information and an application link here. If you have any questions, please reach out to your dean.
The deadline to complete the application is January 10, 2025.

The total number of lunches served to students last school year was a record-breaking 1,313,545 lunches! This represents an impressive 13.8% increase from the previous school year.
