SUN Bucks
SUN Bucks (Summer EBT) is a new federal program that will provide qualified students with $120 to purchase groceries while school is out this summer.
The district has already notified families of students who automatically qualify for the program. Families should make sure we have their current address on file in order to receive the SUN Bucks EBT cards, which we anticipate will be mailed in June.
If your child is not currently eligible for meal benefits but your family may qualify, now is the time to apply through SBLSD. Applications will be accepted through Aug. 31. Two ways to apply:
Electronically through Skyward Family Access (preferred method)
Printable paper application (Spanish, Russian, Ukrainian); return to your child’s school or scan and email it to child_nutrition@sumnersd.org
For questions regarding SUN Bucks, please call the Child Nutrition office at (253) 891-6450.
SBA Testing Reminders....
On Tuesday May 14h, our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students will begin taking the Smarter Balanced Assessment-our state’s standardized test.
By working together, we can make your child’s test experience positive and successful. Here are some suggestions that you can do to help your child succeed:
Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep.
Have your child eat a healthy breakfast.
Make sure your child arrives at school on time (we begin testing right away)
Gently encourage your child to work slowly, take their time, and do their best.
No cell phones, SMART watches and electronic devices are allowed in the classroom during testing!
We are proud of all the hard work our Dolphin's have put in this year and know they've made great academic growth, this is just another measure of all the learning they've done.
Early Dismissal Reminders
To ensure that staff can get all kids released to the correct place, we ask that any early dismissals not happen too close to the end of the day. If you need your student before the 3:10pm dismissal, please come into the office by 2:45pm. Thank you for your partnership!
Additionally, if you are making a change to your student's dismissal plan (ie. bus to pick-up or vice versa) please notify the office before 2:45pm. The end of the day gets very busy in the office and your assistance in this way is very much appreciated!
