Bobcat Bulletin Week of 9/11/23

Dear Puentes Middle School Community,

Six weeks grades will be available in Skyward today. Please take the time to review your child's grades with them and make a plan for success.

Our teachers are available for afterschool tutoring almost every day. It is important that your child advocate for their needs and come to tutoring. We will also have a "Road to Masters" camp next Saturday. Look for an invite to this special event.

This week we began our TechRX initiative and did hallway sweeps to check technology issues. . Our librarian, technician, and SCEIs helped get laptops going and put some in for repair. As a reminder, your child should bring their school issued laptop and charger every single day.

On Friday, we will have our Pebble Hills Feeder Pattern night at the SAC as Pebble Hills takes on El Dorado. Plan for a night out at your child's future high school.

Thanks to all our parents who completed their lunch applications! We are at 99% completed.

Students will be allowed to have free dress for the week of September 18-22. Reminders on dress code for free dress:

1. Students can wear the uniform if they desire.

2. No sagging jeans

3. No midriffs/tank tops

4. No mini skirts

5. No crocs/slides

6. No hats

Here is an overview of dress up days. More details to come.

Mon-Superhero or villain shirt with uniform pants

Tues-Super athlete (sports jerseys) or super mathlete (nerd) with uniform pants

Wed- Super group (dress alike or as a group)

Thursday- Even superheroes need their rest. Pajama pants allowed with spirit shirt and tennis shoes.

Friday- Super Spear-It Day (Puentes spirit shirts or PHHS shirts) with jeans

As of September 1, 2023, House Bill 114 goes into effect which requires school districts to implement mandatory DAEP (Keys Academy SISD) placements for students found in possession of using, selling, giving, or delivering e-cigarettes on school grounds. This applies to all vapes including nicotine and THC (marijuana).

In addition to the district consequence, there is also a legal consequence. It is currently a felony in Texas to be in possession of a THC vape. Students who are caught at school will undergo the same procedures for arrests. They will have their rights read to them and be scheduled for fingerprinting.

Possession means it is found on your person or in belongings whether it is yours or not.

Talk to your teen about this very real issue!

You do not need a doctor's note. A simple handwritten note or email will allow us to code the absence as EXCUSED. This will NOT GO TOWARD LOC. Always send a note to avoid Loss of Credit
