September's newsletter

Hello Ramona Families.

Happy September! Although Fall usually brings cooler weather, we've been experiencing warmer temperatures recently. At Ramona, we are dedicated to ensuring a safe environment for all students, staff, and guests. When temperatures reach triple digits or conditions are deemed unsafe, we will move recess indoors to air-conditioned classrooms to maintain everyone's comfort and safety. Please remind your child to stay hydrated throughout the day.

Additionally, please refer to the calendar below for information on upcoming minimum days. We look forward to seeing you at our parent conferences

12:19 p.m. TK and Kindergarten

12:20 p.m. 1st-3rd grade

12:30 p.m. 4th-8th grade

Please make the appropriate arrangements to have your child picked up on time at either the

Fifth or Sixth Street gates.

Attendance matters, and we need your support in ensuring your child arrives at school on time. When a student arrives late, they miss the beginning of the lesson, which is crucial for their learning.

Chronic absenteeism is linked to lower achievement in math and literacy (Ansari & Purtell, 2018; Wei, 2024). Additionally, frequent absences in kindergarten have been associated with decreased executive function skills, such as working memory and cognitive flexibility, with impacts that can persist through third grade (Gottfried & Ansari, 2021).

Thank you for helping us prioritize your child's education by ensuring they are on time and present every day.

As a Community School, we embrace a whole-child approach, partnering with community-based organizations, local government agencies, and various community resources. Our goal is to enrich and create engaging, equitable learning opportunities for all students.

Our district's food services will be hosting a BBQ lunch for our students on October 11th during regular lunch time. We are looking forward to this fun opportunity.
