💡Coordinators Corner
Our school is launching a new challenge for students and families called the “Let Grow Experience." The idea behind the challenge is to help kids grow in their independence by completing age-appropriate tasks that foster confidence building. We love this idea!
Here are a few ways to incorporate the “Let Grow” concept into your TK student’s routine:
Strengthen independent decision-making skills by offering students 2 or 3 choices (that you are okay with). For example, instead of saying, “What would you like to do today?” Instead, ask, “Would you like to go to the park, read a book, or invite a friend over?”
Invite your TK student to help with household chores. TK’ers can gather garbage from the bathrooms, help with pet feeding, or put the silverware away.
Make a list of the things your TK student does independently right now. A new goal or idea may come out of the discussion.
Embrace smaller steps. Break down big activities into smaller chunks that TK students can complete independently.
Find books to read together that teach independence. For example, “All By Myself” by Mercer Mayer.
We hope you enjoy watching your TK students try new things, have fun, and build confidence!
Partnering with you,
Ms. Gina and Ms. Lorraine
