Cold Weather Gear
It's that time of year again, like it or not! We go outside for recess every day, even in the winter. Please make sure your student has a winter coat, snow pants, gloves, hat and boots. You get a bonus point if they can zip their own coat and tie their own boots/shoes. It's time consuming to do that for so many students before and after every recess. You get another bonus point if their names are written on all of their things because sadly, we end up with a ton of lost and found over the winter.
Change Of Clothes In Backpack
Please make sure your student has a change of clothes in their backpack/locker. We have a lot of potty accidents, milk spills and other accidents that require a change of clothes. We have a limited emergency supply of things but if the students keep a change of clothes in their backpack/locker then we are certain to have something that will fit them.

Worry Boxes
In Life Skills this year, students will be making Worry Boxes. These are a tool for students to use when they have a worry occupying space in their mind. Students will have an opportunity to decorate empty tissue boxes to transform them to Worry Boxes. However, Mrs. R needs help collecting empty tissue boxes for the project. So, if you have an empty tissue box of any size, please send them in with your student. Thank you! Also, if you have any craft supplies you aren't using that we could use to decorate these boxes, we would greatly appreciate it!

Literacy Corner
1st/2nd Grade:
For learning the graphemes (see link to phonogram cards below), students need to be able to understand that one to as many as three letters can represent one sound. Ex: ai, ar, ou, igh.
Print and practice flash cards:

Attendance Winners
Our attendance winners for October were Mrs. Cornell's class and Mrs. Lambrix class. Mrs. Cornell's class had the best attendance and celebrated with a cookie decorating party. Mrs. Lambrix's class had the most improved attendance and they celebrated with a pajama and donut party.
Coat Zipping Club
The Coat Zipping Club is for young 5s, kindergarten and 1st grade. We are trying to help them be independent and zip their own coat so they are ready for winter. When they know how to zip their coat by themselves, their name will be added to coat on the wall and they will get a sticker for being part of the club. Below is a video teaching how to zip a zipper if you would like to show your student.
Shoe Tying Club
The Shoe Tying Club is for 2nd and 3rd graders. However, if a younger student can tie their own shoes, they can certainly be a part of the club too. We are trying to help them be independent so they can tie their own shoes and boots when changing them for recess this winter. If they can show the office they can tie their shoes by themselves, then they will get their name on the shoe lace of the big shoe on the wall and a sticker for being part of the club. Below are a couple shoe tying videos to show your student.

Hungry Howie's
Thank you to everyone who ordered pizza for our last fundraiser day, especially Mrs. Monroe's class. Their class had the most orders and won the pizza party. So far we have earned $627.34 from this fundraiser.
The next fundraiser is Monday, December 16th.
Book Vending Machine
Our wonderful students are working hard and earning a gold coin to use at the book vending machine. They have earned so many coins that we needed to order more books. We will be able to refill it soon!
